Indian Small Arms and Weapons (6 Viewers)

Marcos should aquire some and modify them like the koreans did with their deawoo carbines.
They are probably the only one's who would ever do something like this in the entire Indian military.

That too this (2023 batch of manufacturing) looks like one of the examples that was used in trials and testing based on the wear and tear on it, it looks well used. Both Small Arms Factory (SAF) Kanpur of the erstwhile OFB (now AWEIL) and Bharat Forge (KSSL) made pieces for ARDE of the same design for trials and testing.View attachment 40951

Look at the ears on the ironsights. It's a machined single piece instead of cheap spot welded metal ears. Finally it looks like a Galil!

Are there prominent ARDE and KSSL guys here as fellow defence weebs looking at all our feedback!

No one gets it right the very first time.
INSAS was a learning experience. This will hopefully be better.

The Mk2 will be even better.

Let's just hope it's better than INSAS and doesn't get the high praise INSAS did.

I want to see Indian troops with their own type of rifles. There's a certain level of pride factor there.

Even a small nation like Poland is trying to adopt the MSBS Grot. There's just something about the rifle being a symbol of a military.

The Russians have their AKs, the Americans have their AR, the Chinese have their QBZs (garbage but it was there), the British have their SA80s, the French have their FAMAS, the germans have their G36s, what do we have?

This will be a step in the right direction not just as a rifle but the mindset itself.

Maybe someone somewhere will start asking important, deeply philosophical questions like "Why stop at rifles?"
I think the problem with INSAS was not the design as much as it was poor production. Wont happen now.

Upper receiver of ARDE carbine is manufactured using Metal Injection Moulding technique so it's a single piece.

It's not cheap stamped metal with lots of rivets in INSAS. So the quality is much better.

Metal injection moulding is much suitable for mass manufacturing with greater precision though it is much cheaper and faster than machining(CNC).

Moreover the design isn't that bad looking when you compare with Indian version of AK-203.

People who think of supreme aesthetics doesn't take into account of overall cost of equipping a massive Army(4 lakh isn't a small number).

Moreover in this case the IPO stays within India.
