Indian Small Arms and Weapons

Do you guys think insas had the potentional to become a platform similar to the korean k2?
Ofcourse
If they'd kept doing iterative improvements in time and the end customer too had supported the initiative wholeheartedly then why not.

This thing is also more or less just an INSAS variant

So if this much can be done then definitely more could have been done too. But as I've already said, the window is closed now.

Insas had the potential it was an AK derivative but people here werent that visionary thats why we are getting AK with pictanry rails
Our arms procurement and planing sucks
For insas its reputation was ruined new rebranding would have needed rather than mk 2
Approach like first tar21 and then devloping x 95 would better for us
But yes insas have potential
Even og insas would be better against chinease than "the ak203"
In India our planers don't even know what they are doing what kind of optics they want what rifle round they want

Only insas upgrade exist is of fab defence by star aerospace same company which sells 1000 dollars shit in 3400 dollars to army so it is substandard and overexpensive
My insas upgrade would be like this
First polymer furniture for infantry varient decent stock and polymer handguard with pic rails and pic rails on top barrel 16" and will make sure insas can now accept nato std magzine
For sf same just quad rails or mlok with 14"

Even for gun in picture it have more potential than this hideous furniture with on their hands on resources and internet they could do lot better but as usual we lack potential to think further and innovation
One who designed the gun and one who drafts rfi both doesn't wanna look further and they are stuck in past

Yes Sir

Yup, that's why I highlighted the in time part in bold.

Guns in as early as 1950s were standardizing bolt hold open...these guys still seem alien to that concept despite having already manufactured FALs in past
Russians (the nyet, rifle is fine) have started using American (the capitalist pig's) M-Lok...but our guys? Nyet
Yet to see a single short stroke piston rifle designed by them
What's ambidextrous? It's just a woke LGBTQ+ propaganda

Agreed
As i said they refuses to look further
Single stroke piston , ambidextrous m lok is new norm for any rifle i bet not a single person who is designing guns in arde or one issuing rfi know anything about them despite fact thease things are available for decades

That OFB Babu in recent TV9 Video about UGRAM, literally said that “We Don’t Do that here” with utter disdain, when the reporter asked about Ambidextrous feature.
He’s like “We think you don’t need new features” it’s bad for “Jawan’s muscle memory developed by magnificent INSAS

OFB's factories are antiquated. The tooling is older than almost every member in this forum. The production standards, the tolerance of individual parts are all shit. Complete with crap fit and finish. The babus are living under a rock in Bikini Bottom. They are incapable of fabricating polymer furniture that doesn't look like cheap plastic tat. The mere fact that riveting should be consistent is an alien concept to them. They don't understand why everyone is asking for rails and ambidextrous controls. They are baffled when asked for a magwell or a full length handguard. "Why does a jawan need all that ??" They are always bewildered. "Where will the front sight go if we extend the rail ?? pic rail mounted iron sights ?? Witchcraft!!". They don't even bother researching weatherproofing textured cerakote coating for the finished product. They have no reason to perform, they have no humility in accepting their production standards are 30 years behind. They genuinely believe they are making the best guns in the world.

Sometimes I don't even blame Army for ignoring OFB's crap.

See if they can make a product on standard of the Type 20. Babus will be submitting their VRS application before the day is over. The Ugram would've been impressive 14 years ago.

And what is this insane obsession with foldable charging handle tips.

these charging handles are trash they slow the soldier down ...

Also SSS with such a small budget and exposure was able to figure out cerakote before OFB ... tells a lot about babus .

OFB's sniper rifles are on a whole other level
