Indian Special Forces

Cobra and other STF units of Naxal states and BSF can give Garuds a run for their money in combat.
even though I am not abig fan of Garuds, their's one chap I have a deep respect for Cop Jyoti Prakash Nirala
This from India's Most Fearless 2
"The Garud squad had done its homework well before their CO had received the intelligence input that had set them on course for Chandargeer....................................................The patrolling teams had taken photographs and videos to acquaint the squad with the likely target area. ‘Dressed in civvies, my men had managed to gather intelligence both from vehicles and onfoot,’ says Sqn Ldr Rajiv. ‘The last recce was on 14 November. My men had walked the nooks and crannies of Chandargeer, which has around 200 houses and 1500-odd inhabitants. When our ground contact phoned me with intelligence of the whereabouts of Osama Jungi and Mehmud Bhai, it basically confirmed what we had suspected"

and
"‘We wasted no time and immediately took our positions,’ says Sqn Ldr Rajiv. ‘These positions concealed us from the terrorists’ possible line of sight and provided us cover from any incoming fire. The chances of getting hit are the highest when a cordon is being laid.......................................................‘It was critical for me to make sure that my Garuds could acquire targets with ease,’ says Sqn Ldr Rajiv. ‘I wanted my men to have the best field of fire to take the terrorists out quickly. If the terrorists were to take the escape route I thought they would, they would most certainly run into Nirala and Mehta."

And from there how Nirala held his position despite being shot at, even at the head.
"But, as his buddy had correctly observed, Corporal Jyoti had made up his mind. With the terrorists in his direct line of sight and a perfect field of fire, the commando tightened his holdon the handle of his machine gun and rained down multiple 5.56 mm rounds at them with a single trigger squeeze.................................................the four other terrorists stopped in their tracks, now vulnerable and exposed. Corporal Jyoti could have retreated at this point to his position of cover. He decided not to, most likely because he believed that if he stepped away now, the remaining terrorists would find an opportunity to escape................................He turned around momentarily, the faintest smile on his face, which was glistening with sweat. ‘He said nothing, he just looked at me. And I understood. He had avenged Milind and Nilesh (his two buddies who had been KIA months before). Jyoti had made his peace even before it happened...........................................One of the bullets hit Corporal Jyoti in the head. As he fell to the ground, the machine gun in his arms kept firing, his finger still squeezed around the trigger.‘I remember the moment so clearly,’ says Corporal Devendra. ‘The LMG was still firing when Jyoti fell. I can never forget that.’

So after all this, I am still not able to understand the Garuds, probably one or two flights are really good but what about others. What's going on with Garuds, are they professional are they not....no idea

The most Goated ones are Grey Hounds. They are the most professional ones.Even NSG sends their boys to train under them. All the instructors in the training academy are men with operational experience and many have kills.

Only time will tell, a lot of Garud Flights were created only in the last few years.

I dont know why they stopped their tenure in Kashmir..that is the way to be the best.

As far as what I know....when MARCOS operate in Kashmir, RR & Para SF also help them out get experience, sometimes, by holding back on their operations and letting the navy boys go for it, provided they also knew about the target before and did their own int, because otherwise there's no point. MARCOS did the same thing with Garuds because they operate near Bandipore, atleast during Cop Nirala's time. And I agree, if anything I am happy AFSOD is atleast bringing Gaurds together with Para SF and MARCOS in more exercises. The more exposure they get, the better. I hate it when the Airforce allows for them to have videos of jogging on the spot with their AKs awaiting some celebratiy for news coverage and demonstrating knife fighting and sentry silencing like some immature third world show for theatrics circus clowns. Which sometimes I feel we are becoming. While the west is ruining it's millitary down to wokeism, we are bringing it down to sheer mediocrity.

Death of two elite Garud Commando during an encounter in Kashmir on Wednesday has once against exposed special commandos’ vulnerability, as they were shot in their first encounter in counter-insurgency operations. Involved Garud commandoes were first batch of Indian Air Force (IAF) commandos embedded with the Army for ‘live situational training’. This was second incident in which Garud suffered casualties. The first incident took place when terrorists attacked Pathankot airbase in January 2016 in which one Garud died.

Garuds were with the Army for live situational training. They came in August and this is the first batch.

…..

They came in 2011-12 and then went back until 2016 then after this incident i was told or i read somehwere that they went back.

Existence of Pakistan is itself a proof of their glory in war.

It's just like among soldiers Para SF is glorified, sikh jats and rajputs were so called para SF :rotflmao:
LoL 🤣 true indeed Pakistani Punjabi have communities like Rajput, Jat and Gujjar who converted to Islam during medival period. It is surprising where was the mashal race back then. Entire Khokhar clan ( Jats and Rajput both) considered the warrior tribe converted to Islam. Quite strange.... there are Khokhar Moole Jats in Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab Sangrur and Mansa districts, their ancestors converted to Islam for a brief period of time and then revert back to Hinduism after the downfall of Islamic rule. We call them Moole Jats, they themselves admit that they converted to Islam under pressure.
