Indian Special Forces

Ditto feelings when Para SF jawans get butchered coz of incompetence at the top.

Honestly ACM, RM flying aircrafts after an crash is not an answer. More like an hogwash. It is like driving the Ambassdor in today time. You can drive and convince mango man. But we all know Amby can't survive an modern day crash, don't have an engine to run in Indian highways.

Same with Old jets being used in IAF. Mig29, Mig21, Jaguar, Mirage 2k were all 50+ years old aircrafts. We should retire them within decades.

Noob question ,
how effective will be setting up small DMR teams all around the terror hotbed ?

It would be very cool but we would also require a lot of Temporary operating bases for the operators/marksmen there. Not to forget the fact that most of the vantage points are grazing grounds in these areas, blowing their cover would be easy as hell. Highest trained marksmen would be from nsg + SF, it would be very straining on number of men available for other assigmments on borders.

Col shivendr kanver on his first tactical video on YouTube said you are sf you never wear same combat pants and shirt always wear different according to matching i was like wtf why camo ka kya mtlb fir

it breaks the human sillouhette more effectively into two distinct parts. If the situation permits it works really good. I do this a lot on ops - niche solid green upar tan or camo.
Some inspo pics i use for better mixing -

MARCOS is a surgical knife, while PARA gets utilized more like blunt instruments these days. Rather then paying any attention to their modernization and kit standardization, IA throws more men at the problem until the problem ceases to exist.
destruction of Indian SF.webp

Probably a repost

I propose the following:

1. Let all the Battalions be named whatever the fuck they want - they can be called SuperDuper Balidan Ghost Death Squad battalion for all I care. They will always be the Parachute Regiment and can have their maroon beret and the Dagger with wings.
2. Raise a New Unit (Special Forces Regiment) Phase 1- Hold Selection for a period of 2 years - Invite every single serving member of the Parachute Regiment to volunteer for Selection - Raise 1 Battalion - put this battalion through a 1.5 year training / work up cycle. (~150 men)

When this Battalion is ready to Deploy:

3. Phase 2: Open Selection to the whole Armed Forces (twice a year) - raise another battalion -

4. Phase 3 - Repeat

Raise a total of 4 Battalions + Intel Support Battalion

5 years down the line - Run a Different Selection - from within the 5 Battalions above - 60 Men - Create a Tier 1 National Security Strategic Unit for Expedentiary SOF work

COMPLETELY DELINK From Para Regiment ETHOS/DNA/CULTURE/LINKING - give them a Black Beret/Purple Beret / Nehru Cap - dont care

Right now we are at a stage where our Intructors require to be trained in western set of skill.

Not knowing how to put optics, using wrong combination of equipment, squad level of wiping out or pinned down, loosing track of terrorists multiple times despite being 100 times more in number …point to some serious issues with training.

And what training will they do…all the SF guys just have a thinking that they are marathon runners..they are tooo guerrilla minded if you ask me.

I would suggest the opposite if i was in charge…

I would invite CO,officers,JCO and NCO of all units…

Setup a academic course for a month.

Invite a instructor who by the way would charge 15-25 lacs a month easily.

Train them in modern battlecrafts.

Ask them to return to their units and train them for 6 months.

Then every year run a SF competition of 100 men from each unit and test those skills which were taught.

In the background setup a committee on modernisation consisting of all officers who are trained now and the Gora instructor to get new equipment for every unit.

Setup a intel unit of SF.

Setup a armoury for SF.

Setup a specialised logicstics unit for SF.

And setup a special medical team aswell.(including psychologist aswell)

Fair

Pick a group of men who will instructer and C&C cadre. Send then out into the world on deputation to forieng units for 2 years. then do What i said above.

then once a unit is raised. send them out for 9 months (3-4 months to work with a foriegn unit).

Will take us ~5 years to stand up a proper SOF unit that is combat deployable. so be it.

And I include a Fixed and Rotary wing assault component as well into this.

Everyone from Pilots to medics to Cooks to Engineers should be integral to the unit and work seemlessly with the door kickers.
