your concerns are valid bhai,
we often crib about standardised optics still not being issued, but it's also a thing that Indian Armed Forces don't usually see pistol as a recommended standard issue sidearm thing

because muh 'limited range', 'limited firepower', 'limited ammo' and all things

- i mean without pistols as prevalent as INSASes, AKs and other rifles here, how are we gonna train majority of our jawans into handgun combat? it's rather seen as an 'officer's weapon' or 'vehicle crew weapon' or 'special unit weapon' etc thing and majority of pistols are those Pistol Auto 9mm 1A (desi Browning Hi-Power) which haven't gone through any modernisation
so such outright outlandish and outdated training gonna continue
compare it to any proficient armed forces from the west , i've even seen photos of ww2 era US soldiers going through pistol training with 1911A1, nowadays they have far modern stuff with Beretta M9, Glocks, SIG P320 (sic, bakwas pistol but still) - in fact almost all western nations have got their own pistols
germans - H&K USP series
austrians - Glock series
french - MAC 50, later PAMAS G1 - locally manufactured Beretta 92
czech - Cz 75 series
poles - WIST-94, nowadays FB VIS 100
and so on
while our side adopted british arms doctrine in armed forces and remained stuck to it
