Don't know about the SF's new rifle quest but it will be an AR pattern rifle for sure I if am correct. What other rifles were they considering?
If they want specifically ar platform then its diff issue but saying AK based rifle won't meet required QR is not trueIIRC they want an AR pattern rifle...
No matter how much one refines it, if it won't meet the QRs it won't be selected.
im pretty sure the tier 1s replaces their m4s with MCX variantsYaman, Shayetet, Shaldag, Sayeret Matkal use it as their primary assault rifle replacing the M4A1s they bought from FN USA.
Jindal Taurus t 4What other rifles were they considering?
They use arads in ops too in replacement of M4im pretty sure the tier 1s replaces their m4s with MCX variants
im pretty sure the tier 1s replaces their m4s with MCX variants
Read my reply again, 'they are looking for an AR pattern rifle IIRC' this line nowhere translates into 'AK based rifle won't meet the QR' as AK won't be competing in the first place if the requirement is for AR!If they want specifically ar platform then its diff issue but saying AK based rifle won't meet required QR is not true
MCX came late...im pretty sure the tier 1s replaces their m4s with MCX variants

Yeah as far as I know Matkal and Shaldag were running MCX variants and YAMAM were running ARAD.im pretty sure the tier 1s replaces their m4s with MCX variants
I was wrong i think idf tier 1 units are using sig mcx and arads but rest of all units are still rocking m4sAnd other units are still using old m4 i am yet to see arad with service within idf
This mindset is one of the factors our Armed Forces is what it is today as far as small arms is concerned...
Let the forces buy what it finds suitable and meets the QRs? No!!
Force em to buy things that they don't want or the thing doesn't meet the QRs? Hell Yeah!!
Prime Example:- Our beloved INSAS ak Indian Small Arms System.

Inside the M4A1 Block I Carbine: The Special Operations Origins of an American Icon
The M4A1 Block I wasn’t just a rifle—it was the quiet professional’s scalpel, a finely tuned instrument of American resolve born from necessity, honed by experience, and carried with purpose into the most unforgiving corners of the world.sofrep.com
Imagine if a couple of Knowledgable and experienced SOF guys sat down with SSS Def and built a Carbine from the ground up with all their wishes and wants.
This is exactly what I'm trying to say, if a system meets the QR and FRs then it should be inducted. Be it Arad, Car-816, T4 or M72, but the catch is 'if'.*IF* SSS Defense's M72 can satisfy their QR and is cheaper than ARAD, what's wrong with going ahead with that? perhaps SF guys could spend rest of the monies in procuring other gears like better headsets, optics, radios and all?
and why M72 can't ? because you literally said it this wayThis is exactly what I'm trying to say, if a system meets the QR and FRs then it should be inducted. Be it Arad, Car-816, T4 or M72, but the catch is 'if'.
why the forces don't wan't (the first part before 'or' here) M72, seemingly even *IF* it meets the QRs?Let the forces buy what it finds suitable and meets the QRs? No!!

When did I say that M72 can't meet the QR?and why M72 can't ? because you literally said it this way
This ws reply to the part where you mentioned that Arad is a good rifle but despite having the M72...why the forces don't wan't (the first part before 'or' here) M72, seemingly even *IF* it meets the QRs?
S 13.Yeah as far as I know Matkal and Shaldag were running MCX variants and YAMAM were running ARAD.
Active Duty were running M4 variants and other support units were with Tavors and shorty M16s.
Home defence were running M16s.
With the new standard rifles coming in the M4s will move to support units and Home defence will have Tavors/M4s.
nah it seems 9x19mm one, look at that magazine adapter thing just below the magazine well, takes Uzi magsS 13.
