Indian Special Forces

If they want specifically ar platform then its diff issue but saying AK based rifle won't meet required QR is not true
Read my reply again, 'they are looking for an AR pattern rifle IIRC' this line nowhere translates into 'AK based rifle won't meet the QR' as AK won't be competing in the first place if the requirement is for AR!

im pretty sure the tier 1s replaces their m4s with MCX variants
Yeah as far as I know Matkal and Shaldag were running MCX variants and YAMAM were running ARAD.
Active Duty were running M4 variants and other support units were with Tavors and shorty M16s.
Home defence were running M16s.
With the new standard rifles coming in the M4s will move to support units and Home defence will have Tavors/M4s.

This mindset is one of the factors our Armed Forces is what it is today as far as small arms is concerned...

Let the forces buy what it finds suitable and meets the QRs? No!!

Force em to buy things that they don't want or the thing doesn't meet the QRs? Hell Yeah!!

Prime Example:- Our beloved INSAS ak Indian Small Arms System.
:cautious: bhai, sir, whatever you are...

please don't go acidic at me at least regarding small arms procurement in our armed forces, the amount of stuff i've written about everything so far, on good old DFI, facebook discussion groups, teligram discussion groups and nowadays this forum itself says enough about my views about it,

and INSAS is shear 'false equivalence' case here, SF were given an option to induct that INSAS bullpup variant but they went ahead with Tavor TAR-21 anyways, no one ever forced them to get INSAS bullpup

i'll just tag @rkhanna bhai's post here to say about it further

Inside the M4A1 Block I Carbine: The Special Operations Origins of an American Icon

Imagine if a couple of Knowledgable and experienced SOF guys sat down with SSS Def and built a Carbine from the ground up with all their wishes and wants.
this is Arad

and this is SSSD's M72

this is seemingly short stroke version

coming back,
*IF* SSS Defense's M72 can satisfy their QR and is cheaper than ARAD, what's wrong with going ahead with that? perhaps SF guys could spend rest of the monies in procuring other gears like better headsets, optics, radios and all? 🤷‍♂️

This is exactly what I'm trying to say, if a system meets the QR and FRs then it should be inducted. Be it Arad, Car-816, T4 or M72, but the catch is 'if'.

and why M72 can't ? because you literally said it this way

why the forces don't wan't (the first part before 'or' here) M72, seemingly even *IF* it meets the QRs?
