How to identify 1 Para from other units:

1) mostly carry STAR21 - the sharpshooter variant with a bipod

2) old camo cut out and wrapped on rifle

3) use a mix of galvion viper high cuts and full ones instead of Team Wendys/Ops Core

for a unit which was the first commando battalion to be converted into SF, and has some of the most mature guys I've seen, they're pretty outdated

Not their fault. I still believe their internal standards and drills are better than many units.

Not related to just 1SF but PARA SF as a whole, I really find it weird to use Tar-21 with Bi-Pod but with only a Reflex Sight and not with a magnifier or a LPVO. But recent pics on public forum did show em getting LPVOs and magnifiers!

I have personally seen a buddy pair from 1 para SF with a long range scope mounted on their flat top S-tar 21. However I could not figure out the manufacturer details given the time and distance.

Analyzing this (from whatever knowledge I have and what impressed me)

• Crawling toward a fortified or concealed enemy hide, exposing oneself to danger, and using grenades to create confusion, draw unessesary fire while the rest of the squad is engaging the target while he himself got around the boulder to exploit angles of fire, eliminating terrorist with a headshot. This is what we see in Ukraine Russia war videos when we look at bunker/structure clearance and the current tactics being discussed.
• Tactical Tracking & Terrain Association as we see him exploiting the weather conditions to his advantage
• Reacting to contact with immediate counterfire and pulling the team to safety under suppressive fire demands muscle memory developed through various drills

This is how I imagine them practicing on range, because the stance, the grip is so Para SF

Yes. I mean I've written about this before. If the logo of a unit used to be a bear scratching a tree with bloodied claws and keeping a bigass goat as the unit mascot, you already know it ain't just symbolic - very calm, witty, erudite officer cadre backed by tough as nails men.

Wish they were under NC. But I mean at the end of the day, I feel we're mostly blackpilling on the wrong problems. If you ask me to spend 5 years doing CI/CT, I'd prolly not crib for a proper LAM and be happy with a laser integrated reflex sight. Prolly buy good armour and sort of invest very selectively in things that really really matter. At max try switching to a M4 if the Tavor is really being a bitch. But unless and until you send me to do stuff that my unit was originally raised for, I'd become complacent and jugadoo too sadly. Yeah, would definitely have a new, more up to date way of looking at things unlike the previous generation but that'd be it.

Not an excuse. You can still find me pissed if they wear something stupid and come to an encounter side tomorrow. But you get my point, don't you?

TLDR: fight for reinstating and expanding mandate. PPE, support, funds, and everything else will follow.
