Ah , yes ! My mistake . But ghanchis have quite a reputation for being mean too .so called priest king and modh baniya?!
perhaps you're mixing so called father of the nation's caste with so called priest king's here...
he's clearly a ghanchi or teli by caste, basically a V4, and since OBC list is a state-thing, his caste got into OBC list here during reign of former CM Chimanbhai Patel who also hailed from Janata Dal, the predecessor of current day BJP here, so that's there too
modh prefix means from Modhera, means a northern gujju or by a large extension, a southie rajasthani
well yes, though out of scope for this thread here,Ah , yes ! My mistake . But ghanchis have quite a reputation for being mean too .
I read news that claimed that the remaining budget was spent in the final months by procuring indigenous gears on a war footing. Some articles predict something similar this year too. Will have to look it up.

Is he hinting at F35 or a QUAD with teeth & laws, maybe both?

Looks like Tesla is coming to India.I think Tesla will finally make way into India.
Some context,
- Tweet says only luxury cars, suits Tesla.
- Musk is expected to meet Modi this week.
- Tesla deliveries fell in the last earnings and so he will want to expand.
- China imposed tariffs on US vehicles last week which will impact Tesla.
- Allowing Tesla market access will soften tariff war more as Musk is Trump’s bro.
Overall, I wouldn’t mind Tesla into India as long as there are still some tariffs on it that wouldn’t severely impact our auto industry.
It would also be a wake up call for our industry to stop slacking and innovate harder/faster than take the market for granted and rely on tariffs to counter foreign competition.
In the long run if played well, GoI can develop leverage over Musk just like how China did.
Starlink should not be allowed though under any circumstances.
Looks like Tesla is coming to India.
Some thoughts,
- The sub 30k car is in the works for India and other similar markets.
- Probably a gig factory for this model and model3 along with parts ecosystem will be a precondition for tariffs discount (same deal as earlier ) not just for Indian market but for export to foreign markets while the Chinese factory can focus on higher end models.
- Tesla prices came down significantly already (compared to 2 yrs ago, about $12k-20k discount based on model) and I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices come down even more later.
Let’s see how this pans out.

surprised that tata, mahindra and other auto lobby hasn't made a storm about it. below 30 lakhs model might actually sell quite good.
I'm thinking that, people might buy tesla for brand name.Depends.
At 30L, you get some really great SUV's in India with nice options.
Tesla at it's smaller size would be competing with larger vehicles are similar price in India.
Tata, Mahindra need to continue their Business with OOASSAAA. Given Mush is virtually the acting vice president - they shall protest but silently and indirectly via lobbying. Also Both Tata and Mahindra have vehicles which pretty much compete if not outcompete with whatever Tesla is cooking under 30. Tesla has good Software(Auto Pilot whatevaaa) but that is for the Disciplined Road Traffic of the world. In India only ADAS Level 2 works somewhat. And truly next gen AI based Autonomous Drive is something what teams like Swaayat are currently working on in India.surprised that tata, mahindra and other auto lobby hasn't made a storm about it. below 30 lakhs model might actually sell quite good.

See the job description? Its front desk job in showroom.Elon confirmed some time back in their shareholder meeting that they are not working on any sub $30K car currently. They have rented offices in India since 3-4 years now. They have been hiring for resources too since last 3-4 years most probably to outsource their software division.
Their current line up makes no use case for Market like India:

Setting up a Gigafactory again makes no sense when they have one in Shanghai already and which is struggling to maintain sales in much bigger Chinese market.
