Su-33 ones are bigger than than Mig-29K maybe thats why

originally we had option to opt for su-33 but the less unit number would be problematic for vikramaditya sized carrier (around 11-14 su-33 were to be carried vs 34 of mig-29k at max battle load)

Other reason was that su33 had to get too close to the island while taking of from the longer position due to their larger size,making things more harder for pilots in already cramped carrier .
