Not sure about how the training process in India goes, but the Alpine sniping/High angle/Altitude sniping courses here in Europe are top notch. I wonder if India has anything remotely similar to that or is it just blanket marksmanship training like he mentions.
Any ideas if something like this exists? @Airborne22 @COLDHEARTED AVIATOR @Unknowncommando
If not, then sending guys here to train and bringing back the knowledge and setting up such a course in HAWS would literally be the most logical way to go forward!
Here's a glimpse of what I am talking about.

No bro as far as i have heard from veterans its not there.

Talent that he is talking about is present in every country but hard work beats talent most of the time.

There was/is no sniper doctrine in our warfare so what's the point of having a sniper school!?

After we moved away from British one we adopted kind of the Soviet doctrine; attaching Designated Marksmen with regular units instead of having an independent Sniper-Spotter system like we see in USA. Only Tier One forces realised the need of snipers, started procuring proper bolt action rifles (those handful of Sakos, Sauers and Mausers) and started makeshift training in their own ranges.

yeah hence setting up a proper school/program for them instead of makeshift individual programs.

So, against PLA Armor, what are the thoughts of members of this forum? Like
Type-1: 25-Kg per 2-Soldiers one with 15-Kg Missile Round of Akeron/Spike-LR2/Javelin at 5000m range and another with 10 Kg CLU

Type-2: 25-Kg per 2-Soldiers with 1- NLAW per 1-Soldier weighing in 12.5-Kg with 650m range. Or you could equip each with 10-Kg Spike-SR2 but still 1/3rd or 1/4th range of true MANPATs, the Spike-SR has range only upto 1250m.

I don't understand the obsession of desi fanboys apeing Western Armies of their Organic NLAW capability scenario. How useful Team Level NLAW in Open Himalayas with small range of 1250m assuming we can even get that close? They say at platoon level Heavier ATGMs can be issued but the thing is not about Cost but rather effectiveness, I don't think we find our forces in that close ranges before PLA raining down on us. I also don't buy into the argument of "Individual Resiliency" where each soldier goes on Rambo Style against PLA Armor and hence that Individual Organic NLAW/Spike-SR is needed.

I think we do need a reliable, lightweight anti tank weapon to complement dedicated anti tank teams. But for $ 30,000 , NLAW is complete trash. We shuld be looking at cheaper weapons (maybe drones even?) for single use, LAT work.
