Naxal Maoist Insurgency

18 Naxals killed during Chhattisgarh encounters

Four jawans were injured as security teams inflicted major damage on Naxals, killing 17 cadres, including a high-ranking Maoist, identified as Kuhdami Jagdish, carrying a reward of Rs 25 lakh on his head, in Sukma, police said.

Kuhdami Jagdish was wanted in more than a dozen deadly Naxal incidents, including the 2013 Jhiram Valley attack that left several Congress leaders dead. Another encounter was reported from the neighbouring Bijapur district where one Naxal was killed, a police officer said. Among the four injured security personnel, three belong to the District Reserve Guard (DRG), a unit of the state police, while the fourth is from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), they said.
With the latest successes, 134 Naxalites have been gunned down in separate encounters in the state so far this year. Of them, 118 were eliminated in the Bastar.

How many more are there? Any estimate?
There could be anywhere between 500 to 1000 left across entire red corridor. Keep in mind that, what usually happens is, naxals when faced with massive battle, would often flee to other districts that are marked safer compared to that, and lie low then return.

They are having difficulties doing that now, basically they are trapped in thier hideouts.

grt. if only 500-1000 naxals left,,,than its their ending phase. what about urban naxals situation these days. r they still active nd support naxals??? we should do "final ending blow" to them nd not stop untill they completely wipe out. so they cant regroup or re emerge like khalistani.

urban naxals are mostly neutralized after Bhima Koregaon, govt used that as excuse to basically take a flamethrower to Naxalite network. khalistanis is a unique situation, even kashmiris with 2 billion muzzies in world don't have that much support abroad. sikhs were some of the first indians to emigrate to west, basically it means there was a solid Sikh cultural network in places like Canada even before khalistan isssue even started in 1970s, no such network of kashmiris and naxals ( who aren't even a single group of people, unlike other two).

there is no such thing as "final ending blow", the other party too has agency on planning their next steps. these sort of political movements die in waves, action reaction happens over decades.

Maoists offer conditional talks; Chhattisgarh says ready for dialogue but with no conditions

In a press release attributed to the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and released on March 28 in Telangana, its central committee stated that it was ready for peace talks on the condition that the government halts its anti-Maoist operations in the region and stops the establishment of new camps of armed forces in various States, including in Chhattisgarh.
“They have written themselves that the last time they had said that they would discuss if [security forces] should not leave their camps for six months, there should be a reduction in the number of troops, the weapons should remain unsusued or be deposited. Back then, we had made it clear that with these conditions, there will be no talks,” he said. “Talks will be without any conditions and we are still ready for that, our Central leadership is ready, Hon. [Chief Minister] Vishnu Deo Sai ji is ready, there is no problem with talks. But the government will not form any committee. They should make one if they want or use the channel they like, we are ready,” he added.

another thing, we need to make sure that naxalism never gets a "resurgence" , this should be done by monitoring people associated with naxalism, surveillance of the area and forces should probably be kept there for like 10-15 years while being withdrawn slowly as time goes.

Raipur - Vizag Expressway is coming. If Bajapa government in CG is intelligent, they can establish industries along this corridor and you can export products via Vizag port.
