Should've been the other way around. Manipur is on the boil not Mizoram. The former has or at any rate had more than a dozen insurgent groups active out there even before the current crisis.

We need an ex IA man there in the governor's seat for the expertise & experience that person brings to form an independent PoV in such a situation. Nothing better than an ex CoAS.

Agree. But I think Amit Shah wants someone who is trusted in Manipur.

As for Mizoram, there is no conflict in Mizoram because they are all christians who are already in the Kuki-Chin-Zo country gang. No one to fight & kill there.

The second paragraph in my previous post was an argument for why Gen V.K.Singh ought to have been posted to Manipur.

Makes all the more sense a military man ought to be posted as governor to Manipur then . He's wasted in a regular governor's job which is what he'd be performing in Mizoram

Yes, makes sense, I agree with you. But Indian political leadership don't trust armed forces 100%. Reason you will see a PMO / HMO chamcha instead of a military strongman.

An alternative PoV is the GoI still believes in dialogue & negotiations. A military man on the other hand could be seen as prone to taking direct action instead of indulging in dialogue , politics , manipulation & other forms of skullduggery .
 
Ajay Bhalla was Home Secretary during the entire brewing and escalation of the Manipur conflict. What new is he capable of doing when he couldn’t deliver much being number 2 in the home ministry?

Mizoram has or possibly will provide #PhulSapport to their zaat-bhois operating in Manipur, deploying VK Singh could be pre-emptive to stop even that state from exploding considering it shares a border with the newly re-established East Pakistan.

The only reason they're trying to be accommodative more like passive aggressive is coz Indian security forces gunned some 19 of them down recently when they were high on their own supply & tried to monkey around.

I wrote this earlier , the day cookies think the IA or the various para militaries we field are like the Tatmadaw , they'd find out the truth for themselves after a very painful lesson. Part of the lesson already seems to have been learnt. 🤣
