Iran is balancing its commitment to the Islamic Ummah with its pro-india stance. On the Kashmir issue, Iran often criticizes India but has sided with India on several occasions. In 1994, for instance, Iran notably supported India at the UN Human Rights Council against a Pakistan-led motion on Kashmir, demonstrating its willingness to prioritize bilateral ties over ideological posturing.
India cannot afford a strained relationship with Iran, as much of its oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz, and a significant portion of its trade with Central Asia relies on Iranian ports.
Major Gaurav Arya may be a private citizen now, but he has been a part of the Indian Army(albeit for a very short time). Therefore, his words could be misconstrued as the official word of the Indian government, especially by foreign totalitarian governments like Iran.
Iran needs us more than we need Iran- yes, Iran makes Rooskie goods easier for us to get, but its not like we cannot invest more and more in roos to get it via vladivostok- yes, its PITA, so Iran must know, it is facilitator, not deal-breaker or deal-maker.
Iran also needs to realize, that we are the only thing standing between Iran getting vaporized by Israel when push comes to shove, as we are the only nation with an objection that Israel will even give time of the day to listen to.
Understand one thing about Iranis - they may be liberal/they may be moozie on a personal basis, but they ALL look down on Indians coz Iranis see themselves as original Arya and Indians as Ayra who mingled with dravida kind of nonsense.
They also run with the fact that Achaemenid Persia to many Persian empires had province called 'hind' and they therefore ruled over sindh/india ( only the sassanids ruled over sindh and that too for a short time- like 100 years or so).
All the while forgetting, that the region of balochistan/southern afghanistan was called 'koochak-e-hindh' ( little India) because as far as the Farsi were concerned, THEY TOO followed the desi convention of 'everything south of the himalaya = bharat/hindustan and our himalayas in epics include the Hindu Kush,as Kabul is clearly mentioned in the himalaya in the vedas.
So yes, long story short, Iran & Parsi did rule over parts of greater India, but they rarely crossed into India proper- which WE indians have defined as himalayas + sindhu river from post vedic, aka pre-classical times.
