My take:-

These meetings or fixtures by their very nature take time and effort to be planned and executed. So they are actually not here because of what happened today.

Pakistan if my understanding is right planned these meetings last night pre retaliation to convey to the Indian establishment come morning that post this tit for tat response both sides can claim victory and sit back.

What ended up happening was that come morning India ended up launching a series of devastating attacks in full public view that left these meetings null and void as the ball is again in pakistans court. Deescalation here means pakistan takes the L something they cannot afford.

Simply put they expected India to retaliate this night thus giving saudi and iran ample time to convince India and we ended up launching our own swift retort thus making these meetings dud in nature.

PAKISTAN’S BID TO ESCALATE NEGATED - PROPORTIONATE RESPONSE BY INDIA​

During the Press Briefing on Operation SINDOOR on 07 May 2025, India had called its response as focused, measured and non-escalatory. It was specifically mentioned that Pakistani military establishments had not been targeted. It was also reiterated that any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response.

On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks.

Today morning Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. Indian response has been in the same domain with same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised.

Pakistan has increased the intensity of its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control using Mortars and heavy calibre Artillery in areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sixteen innocent lives have been lost, including three women and five children, due to Pakistani firing. Here too, India was compelled to respond to bring Mortar and Artillery fire from Pakistan to a halt.

Indian Armed Forces reiterate their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military.

3 key takeaways from this release though:

1. Reports of PAF planes being downed yesterday (2 JF17s and 1 J10) seem uncorroborated. No mention whatsoever of any pilots in custody. Is IAF deliberately keeping mum?
2. This says AN air defence system in lahore is neutralised, not the complete AD of lahore, which would have been a killer blow. An air defence system could be a SAM battery or a gun platform too. So hold your horses
3. Paks tried to strike all the way till Bhuj, which is very interesting. keeps scope for naval intervention more likely now!

well it's perhaps unseasonal rains and weather here in gujarat but i saw some coast guard and/or navy helis and a dornier in sky last night and today too

there's some police vigilance around highways and railway stations too

local chatter has rumours of possible porkie interest in striking industial things like jamnagar refinery, ports or even dwarka and somnath mandirs
