I don’t think islamists care about their family, they’re are just a bunch of wild animals with no emotions.

They would probably view them as expendable or rationalize it as martyrdom to an extent - but it is almost impossible to not be a bit dented/diminished on the inside after something like that. Particularly if there were children/grandchildren involved (I hope there were).

Also, this will still be a major blow to the ego & image - which they all care about.
