LORA penetrates PAFB Sargodha.

Earlier in the day sources reported a couple of Su-30 MKI escorted by a posse of Rafales successfully ingressed into Paxtani air space & fired a few LORAs at the PAF air base in Sargodha.

Arguably this is the only reason we've procured this missile. Otherwise we've our Rudram - II & III. Why do we need the LORA?

Rudram series of missiles are anti-radiation missiles. They are mainly used to take out communication infrastructure and air defense systems like radars. These radars just home into their targets by receiving electromagnetic signals which Radars anyway emit. DRDO is increasing the range of these missiles with every subsequent variant.

LORA seems to be a completely different category. It is more like quasi ballistic missile you can fire from an stand off distances. Just like it has variants which can be launched from air, sea, and land. Interestingly this missile is produced in India under license from Israel aerospace industries by BEL. But it is not clear whether we have the air launched version of this missile. The navy claims they have inducted this missile.
