I’ve seen this post on LinkedIn and this is exactly the problem with Indian mindset, be it military, governance, defense procurements, tactical & strategic planning or elsewhere
“Amazon once hired every single INSEAD grad who showed up for interviews, handed them $650K packages (mostly back loaded as ESOPS), then parked them in Luxembourg with no actual job.
Just fu*king hired them to see what would happen.
The result? Amazon Basics exploded. They gobbled up so many industries silently. One classmate was selling CARS on Amazon. No one was safe! They turned bored MBAs into a category-dominating machines.
American vs. Indian Approach to Talent:
American Companies:
"Here's obscene money and freedom. Show us something we didn't even know we needed."
Indian Companies:
"We need someone with exactly 5.7 years of experience in this dying technology who will work for 40% below market rate."
This fundamental difference explains everything:
- Indian companies hire to solve yesterday's problems.
- American companies hire to own tomorrow's markets.
Indian hiring managers obsess over:
- Exact skill matches
- Years of experience
- Credentials that match the job description
While Amazon throws talent at white space and says "go build something."
It looks insane. It IS insane. It also fu*king works.
Most Indian companies are still asking candidates about their "weaknesses" while American tech giants are collecting talent like they're building an army for a war that hasn't even started yet.
The brutal truth? If you're only hiring people who can immediately plug into your current operation, you've already lost. You're optimizing a system that will be irrelevant before your new hire finishes onboarding.
The winners aren't the companies that fill positions.
The winners are companies that accumulate intellectual firepower and wait for it to explode.”
I am no expert in the above professional arena. But the phrase "Indian mindset" always hits me.
The
Indian mindset has evolved to keep 1.4 billion people from killing each other en masse, in spite of all the constant bickering, stereotyping, nickel and diming, language differences, caste differences, inter-state competition and jealousy, corruption, more fertile Muslims etc... A 1.8 billion population if including the two neighbors. If we had a ruthless compassionless mindset like Muslims, people from each state would also be killing people from other states regularly (and not just killing Muslims). It would be like Pakistan in its current state.
The European mindset led to two World Wars, many prior wars, global colonization, slave trade.... all this despite half of the West European population being able to shift to the US, Canada, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa etc... and prevent four World Wars.
Imagine if 700 million of our people had moved outside the country. And imagine if we had less than 5% Muslims in the remaining 700 million, like the west does. The remaining 700 million in India would have a mindset much closer to Europeans and East Asians...and be much wealthier with half their kin abroad.
Africans likely kill a million each year. Chinese have 2% Muslims and 95% same-same Han race and language advantages.
For all its faults, India is a miracle.
We just never had a ruthless mentality towards Muslims that was much needed in the past. Now it is a 650 million person problem in South Asia and ruthlessness can not do much. Hopefully the Pakis divide and kill each other along ethnic lines.,
Unfortunately, I can't wish for a massive cyclone in Bangladesh since almost 10% are still Hindus and Buddhists.
