Nope. blood in the river is not an environmental catastrophe but an environmental EXPLOSION. blood is iron rich and extremely well oxygenated - which means aerobic bacteria growth, aerobic algae growth, which basically means u have a short explosion of life.
Blood is an environmental nourisher, not negative, because it doesnt lead to low oxygenation anerobic bacterial and algae growth, that kills all normal ( aerobic) life and turns a lake or pond into dead green filth - such as you see from excess fertilizer run offs and such.
This is why sometimes humans have used blood to even nourish the soil - it adds iron and oxygenation to the soil itself.
But yes, PETA would go full Puta on us for this.
