While I do understand I kind of slandered the name of good citizens who want MIC to develop and be self-sustainable, a majority of chunk has this old-dehati scarecity mindset of "deshi loha better than german ishteel" mentality. These are the same people who are hell-bent on proving anything made in India is 1000% better than any foreign product which is honestly laughable. A recent example is of Dhruv's repeated accidents and HAL straight away refusing to take ownership and these deshi jingos giving them cover fire.

You are over looking the fact that East pakistan was doggedly fighting for its freedom from west pakistan. Also we were between these two blocks of geography. So, we had the advantage. We didn't just one day decided to cut the pakistan into two halves. We got the oppurtunity and we did it.

The geographic and political reality is not same today.

Now coming to indegenization part: we can't rapidly recover from war unless we master some critical technology. Spares are different jet engines are different. Which country will supply us those precious engines and at what cost? Do you forget that biden administration delayed delivery of jet engines to us??

Baboons and Dhotis including the incumbent think this, and defence spending is a waste, or rather an expenditure that can be cut.

I don't believe the >"deshi loha better than german steel" types being the majority, if this was the case you would have khata-khat funding and sanctioning of deshi projects but such enthusiasm is not to be seen.
