Not the only way. Ukraine can also capitulate and accept all of Russia's demands including denazification and demilitarization.

But first and foremost Ukraine will have to elect a new government. This government is not legitimate anymore.

I assuming you mean it's the only way forward for Ukraine and the west. That's true, but Russia has another way forward, attack.

Vovchansk was a nice town peaceful town. It's too bad the Ukrainians decide to make it a fortification and therefore a legitimate military target. Not only that but Ukraine has been blowing up buildings before they retreat. Go cry elsewhere, although it's shame, nobody here is going to feel sorry for you.

There is no place for a branch of the Russian Church here!
There is no additional word in English, so русский "Russian" and россиянин "Rossiyanin" are translated the same way. We have a clearer defragmentation. Unfortunately, you can't be pilloried for popularizing modern Russian culture.

I also hope that Putler will not accept the offer. Maybe Trump will start supplying us with weapons more actively than now.

Be careful what you hope for, because it just might happen. It's been rumored that Trump will threaten Russia by doing just that. Give Ukraine everything they want, and that will scare Putin to negotiate. Don't worry Putin probably won't negotiate and I've said why many times, but I'll repeat it once again. He doesn't trust that the west will honor any deal in the long run. Although I preferred Trump over that stupid airhead, he's still just promising something that probably won't happen, but that's expected from politicians.

There were no American supplies for the first 4 months of 2024 - this did not help the Russians much.

This is actually plausible. Post-war period won't see rapid growth unless state properties are signed over to westerner oligarchs. The aid will continue to assist with post war recovery, but at a thin stream. Country can't heal fast enough unless the youth refugees come back, youth don't want to return to a war torn nation with slow recovery and a devastated jobs industry. It won't be easy to repeat the post war miracle recovery of Germany. But that country was sawed in half, and the onset of the cold war pushed both sides to pump money into it's reconstruction. A Belt and Road like situation is possible, where foreign owners are now owning land, infra, industry and ports. Give it enough time, and the populace will vent their frustration on the new western overlords, that egged them on to this war, and backed out without delivering even a draw. Law enforcement is absolutely impossible now, and the country will become a hot bed for smuggling. Expect low intensity insurgency as well. Zelensky will likely go the Lukashenko way of consolidating power with foreign assistance. He can't give up power now, or he's toast.

.I have already said: They did not capture a single large city (except Mariupol). Small towns in urbanized areas bought us time. Where there is no such urbanization (Vovchansk, Kupyansk) they are marking time.

Without protection he's going to get staked. New administration will come up with corruption evidence and incarcerate him for life. He'll also be blamed for Ukraine's defeat and subsequent loss of territory. If he loses power, he's leaving the country 100%.
