I am initiating this discussion to propose and work upon the an Indian online encyclopedia as an alternate to wikipedia and Britannica. It may or may not be open to everyone for editing sooner or later upon our decision.
As wikipedia has turned more Eurocentric and is largely guided by confirmation bias of senior editors, we need something for documenting alternate side of story which are generally deliberately ignored or under-documented. An Indian encyclopedia will still be neutral in language without any political or religious bias but will largely represent an Indian worldview in a diplomatic language (and not a bunch of online jingo trolls).
We may initially rely more on original write ups rather than sourced materials until we have a team big enough.
We should write a thousand good articles or at least 500 before pushing it online.
We will need your ideas for interface as well as design of things like article layout plan and information summary tables.
We will not be open to edit for everyone and just limited members for initial stage. We anyway will need editors from every background to know about their culture, history and county.
Realising this project, bringing it into significance and sustaining it for first decade will also be painful unless we are all determined like sustaining our forum.
We will start with writing articles like:
India, Pakistan, Maldives, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Myanmar, Tea, Coffee, Tamil Nadu.
People willing to join in may DM me here or on discord.
