Landscape of modern battlefield is changing fast as can be seen with recent conflicts (starting from Ukraine war). With drones and AI, war fighting is now starting to exhibit unprecedented speed, boldness, precision, and complexity. This thread will discuss and capture these changing trends.

Effectiveness of stay behind and behind enemy lines operations have now increased manifold with FPV and long range ATGM (like Spike NLOS).

With AI, future FPVs will have minimal vulnerability to soft kill measures.

Might need counter-UAS companies attached to AD batteries and other assets to do hard kill duties.

Israel has extracted toll on Iranian AD and SSM units using this strategy. Same happened with Russian Strategic bombers recently.

Propeller driven drones and loitering munitions are already getting obsolete, like Shahed 136/Harpy or even Harop.

Small/Micro turbojet (from 100-500 kgf thrust class) driven drones and loitering munitions will have much higher survivability.

Decapitation Strikes

Need capability to disrupt enemy C2. Case in point, Israel killed Chief of Staff Iran AF, IRGC Commander, Commander of Emergency Command and many more

Also need to take preventative measures, multiple command posts all hardened and preferably deep underground. No centralization.

Do we have something like a Target Neutralization Decision Matrix, aka a Database+Neutralization strategy? Database is about information about every single asset of enemy from lens of say Military like SAM sites, Strategic Military like Nuke Plants, Strategic Civilian like PCB factories, Civilian-Military hybrid like Powerplants, regularly updated real-time using IMINT, HUMINT, SIGINT to form a larger location picture. Neutralization strategy is akin to strategies to take out each of them- using more than one kind like say overwhelming a SAM site with Shahed kind of drones or say using a ALBM from Su-30, we are specific in sense that we are writing down literal acute pathways for neutralization like you can't use same strategies for all kind of targets right? for some you use Airburst ammunition, for some you need bunker busters.

But I still think we need an Event Sequence Decision Matrix, where we don't scratch our brains or babus don't derail it. Akin to pre-determined response, you do a terror attack and this will be our response which is already brainstormed and made a decision by Military Strategists, Politicians, Babus and Military itself so that when something happens we don't brainstorm.

Think of it like this-

1. A Terror attack happens
2. ESDM says to hit Paki Air Bases
3. ESDM feeds on TNDM for latest information
4. TNDM shows Paki Air Bases and as per latest information how many Fighters are presently there and how many are airborne, note that TNDM is both Static and Dynamic Database- it presents the pre-determined pathways to neutralize them
5. Say we discussed best way to hit hangers is Brahmos then TNDM feeds that to ESDM which in turn tells to hit the Hangers with Brahmos.

It is semi-automating the war, why I thought of this is because our babus and politicians tend to scratch brains and have no idea what a response should be sometimes, or too much time to take decisions and such.
