Think it's a smart move from Vivek. He wants to stay clean from all the muck slinging that is bound to happen with doge. Being a governor will add to his credentials/experience as a political administrator which probably doge could not do.

Having said that, I think even the BJP also probably got a small portion of it which is why nothing will come out of it.
The congress and BJP together amended the FCRA act retrospectively in light of FCRA violations on foreign funding after SC conviction of both the parties. Anand Ranganathan mentioned this many times in tv debates.

This guy is one smart cookie. Back in the day when he announced his candidature for the President of the US & was seeking the nomination of the Republican Party , the points he raised were remarkably similar to the ones Trump later raised & won on .

I observed back then that he could well be the sounding board the Trump team cooked up to gauge public mood & tweak their strategy accordingly.

Long short story , while Vivek attracted a lot of eyeballs & gained attention , that attention didn't translate into votes. Perhaps that was known , hence he was intentionally chosen for this job. But he did his job exceptionally well. The rest is history.

However Vivek utilised all that publicity to launch his bid for the governorship of Ohio hoping whatever deal he struck with Trump translates into his winning the party nomination & hopefully the election. Perhaps that was his intention since the very beginning - Governor of Ohio.
 
Companies will Rush to Insulate themselves from Tariffs

A key component of Trump’s tariff policy is to bring manufacturing back to the U.S., reversing a 25-year trend of offshoring to China and other countries. That is his desired outcome. Trump has already succeeded in convincing Apple to manufacture high-end products domestically rather than outsourcing them to China. Apple plans to invest $500 billion in the U.S. alone, setting a precedent that other companies may follow.

Trump has often referenced the 25th President, William McKinley, and his 1890 tariff policies, which encouraged domestic manufacturing. McKinley used tariff revenue to fund incentives for businesses—an approach Trump intends to replicate.

However, Trump’s focus does not appear to be on bringing back lower-end manufacturing, such as clothing or inexpensive consumer goods. Instead, his agenda seems centred on high-value industries, including AI chips, AI-powered smartphones, high-end servers, automobiles, heavy machinery, electric batteries, and other advanced technologies.

To achieve this, Trump will need a highly skilled workforce—something that cannot be developed overnight. As a result, he may turn to countries like India to fill the gap.

Tariffs also serve as a protective measure for domestic manufacturers by preventing them from being undercut by cheaper foreign imports, particularly when those imports are sold below cost (a practice known as “dumping”). By increasing the price of imported goods, tariffs create a more level playing field for U.S. producers.

The net effect? Higher prices but also more domestic jobs.

At present, Trump is leveraging tariffs as a safeguard for critical U.S. industries, shielding them from unfair foreign competition. However, the trade-off remains: protection for American businesses comes at the cost of higher prices for consumers.

if i remember correctly ATF came down on honey badger pistol/rifle during previous trump presidency.

i'm not aware of that, besides ATF despite having a staff of ~5500 some officers, agents and all, is often criticised for their handling of firearm matters that goes against 2nd Amendment things, some of their 'definitions' of what is legal or not is like ambiguous, famous case being arm brace thing that can easily be used as a makeshift buttstock on firearms and yet 'technically' it's an arm brace that one's supposed to wrap around his arm to compensate for 'lack of buttstock' on a firearm 🤷‍♂️

it's a kind of agency that is perhaps aimed with harassing the 'miscreants, dissidents' over ownership of firearms and legal narcotics like daaru and tambaaku

there are some rumours in amreeki side of world that some state level courts are removing ban on 'machine guns' (means full auto weapons basically) calling it unconstitutional, and during Mr. Biden's era ATF went rampant in seeking those 'dissidents' in ways above and beyond what's considered legal there, like going around gun shops to find potential targets and following them and so 🤷‍♂️

but since helluwa illegal aliens are jumping/have jumped over the fence it's expected that some of hardcores will get guns, so trump administration is perhaps attempting at running FBI and BATFE in parallel to strike down such threats, my best assumption as of now

not surprised. Canada did incalulable damage to 5eyes architecture and credibility with the whole Nijjar drama and then threw US intelligence reports of 5eyes under the bus as 'proof'. People dont know how finely callibrated the whole intelligence apparatus the world over are - they can narrow down locations/nature of leaks from just simple statements from the adversaries - Canada's timing, nature of language against India, throwing USA under the bus, etc. all gave RAW clues as to the exact nature of the intel/where the source is/who the sources can be, etc. and now those 5eyes assets are compromised.

This is why intel agencies all stfu and dont talk on public domain about their mandates/jobs/missions : because the community is so closely monitored by each other, that every statement they make, will lead to clues to the adversary as to 'kaun kiya, kyun kiya, kab kiya' etc.

if i were CIA or NSA, i would be extremely pissed at Canada for using intel reports as intel policy and outing our agents/agenda to the Indians.
