RBE2 PESA can track a 1m² target at a range of nearly 100km to 120km (same than RDY of Mirage 2000-5)
RBE2 EASA double this range.
RBE2 XG, with GaN, even more.

So the question is : what is the RCS of a J10 with air to air missiles ?

I would say close to 1.5m2 --2m2 range in frontal arc minimum, will cross 3m2 if its carying fuel tanks.

I'm talking about the radars the rafales in IAF's service have.
Combined with Meteors.

In scenarios like this is when pussyfooting on critical defense procurement can bite you in the ass. MRFA should have been wrapped up at least 10-15 years ago (right after 26/11) which could have prevented the eff up in Nowshera in 2019. We would have had many more options at hand for the present situation and could have created diversions/deceptive maneuvers over a much larger area while keeping the PLA-AF at bay. WTF is UN AF going to do with 30 something Rafales? God forbid, if we lose a few to enemy/friendly fire it will be akin to committing harakiri!!

If not for the extraordinary efforts of IA, Rayban brigade would have been toast a long time ago. Its IA that our enemies fear, be it on the eastern or western fronts. For all its shortcomings, PAF has historically equaled or bettered the IAF. We were fighting F104 Starfighters with Mysteres in the 60s, and F16s with Mig21s in the 2019. We have made it a habit to be caught wrong footed every single time!

The polity doesn't care two hoots about military modernization be it congress or BJP. There is just no urgency on approving development of high value projects. Even Galwan or Pulwama didn't wake them up nor will pahalgam. Curiously Indias defence budget took a dive despite all that. While in the same period freebie budget grew 2 fold

GE promised only 8 engines this year so 1 delivered 7 more to go with 8 months to end of the year. Now calculate yourself

Third world or not, if the US Senate or Potus don't want you to use one of the US made weapon, it is unworkable quite fastly.

Pakis are allowed to use AMRAAMs and any other US toys they have been gifted against India.
Senate, Potus matters not since this is their deep state policy.

Egypt, India and a bunch of other countries wouldn't receive this luxury from the US and so they purchase Dassault's wares from your country and whatever missiles y'all sell with it.

I am aware of that. I would expect 6 frames to be delivered by the end of the year. If the first is not delivered soon, that will suggest to me there is some further problem unconnected to engine availability. If an aircraft rolls out in the next few days, end of that suspicion.

So it is the RBE2 AESA, ie in the 200+ km range against a 1m² target, so more for your bird.
Meteor officially has a >60km NEZ. Max range is >> 150km (some said 300+ km in some very favorable conditions : fired from high speed, high altitude, against a slow moving ang big target as tanker...)

What Kind of AMRAAM ? With what kind of export limitations?
I doubt US gave them top world class electronic goodies and missiles as they knew, for decades, that all will be open and check by chinese engineers.

Radar of Blk52 with pakistan, in general has range of less than 100 km for detection of 1m2 target and ~120-130km for 5m2 target detection.

Effective range of aim120c-5 is between upto 80km( if target is coming towards it).


Rafale f3I in IAF service vs f16blk52 will be similar to f35 vs rafale f4.

Tejas "mk1" will also get first look first shoot against it in bvr.

Those aluminium blk3 and that air cooled aesa ain't gonna have much higher performance that blk52.
