What happened to the people of Tibet after the Chinese occupation has left deep scars on the Indian psyche—whether anyone likes it or not. Over 1.2 million Tibetan refugees still live in India. While the Indian government may have officially recognized Tibet as part of China, the average Indian never will—nor will the average Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, or Sikh.
