what kind of Rafale radar ?
The AESA AsGa actual one or the XG GaN one ?
Agreed, comparing a projected Mk2 system with today's parallel on Rafale is not as constructive as comparing what is projected to be on each in, say, 5 years' time.

Lots of information from HAL Conference Call :

  • LCA Mk2

    - Manufacturing prototype stage, expected to fly in first quarter next year
    - Certification in 3 yr
  • F414

    - Enough 414s available for initial prototypes & testing
    - Deal expected to conclude in this financial year.

Orange small hands might have blocked the f414 deal. My worst suspicion is coming true

Good. This reduces US's leverage on India. If they are behaving like this with the GE F404 then imagine their antics with the GE F414 when manufacturing the AMCA and Tejas MK2.

However the US Deep State will like to keep that leverage and will probably move to conclude the deal later this year. It's the obvious play.

We haven't even announced the JV partner for the 120 KN TF to power the AMCA & that's been officially on since the past 5 years if not more.

In fact our place holder of a Raksha Mantri went on record in the spring of 2021 instructing MoD to seal the deal by the end of the year which would be Dec 2021 & you guys are getting excited by a stray report while no other MSM outlet or any credible SM is reporting the same .

I've never heard of 100 % redundancy in TF of a FA or any other airplane . Please feel free to guide me to such a report if you've come across it.

Besides if we're really pursuing SAFRAN for a JV TF to power the Mk-2 , why are we wasting our time with GE ?

US knows that they're on a good wicket and fitting a new Safran engine (m88-4 is still a prototype to my knowledge) in mk2 would be very painful and would cost us an arm and a leg

We deserve it BTW. All of it

Not getting excited but not turning a blind eye to the fact that USA has got us by the balls here

Can anyone confirm the red marked sensors on Tejas MK2 design?... Are these both MAWS or something else?
