The real definition of secularism is separation of temple and state. In the US, this is the definition. We need to redefine secularism as this, not minority appeasement. For this UCC needs to be passed with a set of universal rights that applies to all citizens equally regardless of religion, caste, creed or wealth. The police needs to be made part of the legislative branch with control handed over to local municipalities and not part of the executive branch. A strong watchdog for ending government tenure tied to corruption needs to be implemented.

OT, but let me clear a misconception. The word 'secular' has meaning only within the context of xtianity. The term originates from the westphalian treaty and concept of nation state wherein "secular" means the state will not interfere in the functioning of the church and neither enforce which denomination of xtianity (catholic, protestant etc...) the people in the state practice. So when it comes to Dharmic civilization states the term has no meaning, but our houthiya politicians have hijacked it to mean minority appeasement and majority bashing. This word must be totally expunged from our constitution and all vocabulary, bcos as along as you use this word it means you subscribe to the xtian European world view and not the dharmic world view

Declaring india hindu rashtra will not solve the problem rather it will only complicate Internal situation. The first step should be to make this country truly secular.
