Chess: Global Updates

Have been following Gukesh for the last 2 years i.e 2022 Olympiad onwards.

That first game was easily the worst he's played in 2 years. He was a nervous wreck and was making such silly mistakes it was unbelievable.

Not easy to bounce back now as Ding is extremely capable of drawing the remaining matches even if he doesn't win anymore.

Markets still have Gukesh as the slight fav i.e 55% to Ding's 45%. I'd personally have it the other way around i.e Ding's the favorite now IMO.

Yeah, first one was quite bad, was one of his worse matches, could be early game jitters perhaps.

Ding tried to surprise Gukesh with an e4 opening, in the 2nd game, usually he doesn't play that one that often. But Gukesh handled it well. Perhaps that'll boost his confidence

Today's game will be crucial. If he can pull off a win as white, he'll still have a good chance, else it'll get progressively harder.

An Unfortunate event happened with Vantika Agrawal in Uzbekistan during the 3rd International President Cup A:

She was on 1.5/2 and drew her third round game. She submitted her scoresheets along with the result as a draw. However, when round 3 pairings came out she was given a loss. Vantika was quite distressed by this. When the pairings came out she immediately mailed the organizers and informed everyone. She even went to the venue. "The whole thing became so stressful for me," says Vantika.

I think she finally withdrew from the event :(
