Chinese Economy Watch

Simply great news. It just made my day. The more western brands lose out on China & the more Chinese brands gain over them in their own markets driving them to bankruptcy , the more severe the response from the west .

As of the present I'd argue that even if CCP under great helmsman 2.0 doesn't want to retake Taiwan , they'd be forced to for the moment the west starts squeezing the Chinese economy it'd have severe repercussions across both China & the CCP.

Great helmsman 2.0 then has just one choice . He has to initiate action which'd reunite the country under his leadership. Unlike in Mao's time he can't resort to the great cultural revolution which means the only avenue open to him is to retake Taiwan.

All this could be avoided if China wasn't an export driven economy & increased internal consumption.

Alas ! It's too late for that now.

You can’t increase internal consumption with a declining population!

While you guys are debating who’s EV has a longer range, India has quietly started mediation between Ukraine and Russia. Signs of more global leadership

Long lasting Russia-Ukraine war will be beneficial for both China and India.

India gaind oil profit and more diplomatic spaces, China also gained whole industry chain export to Russia, and also leverage between USA and EU.

Still, China is also the import for Ukraine.

China's trade turnover with Ukraine rises by 46.6% to $1.5 bln in January-February

Global supply chain and even global community is complicated, couldn't be simplified like this.

US, EU auto companies after losing market share in China, now acutally using China as best manufacture base, and technically R&D center for exporting to World.

Maybe after 10 yrs, the Chinese car brands will on take 10-20% share finally in EU and US, and then situation will be stable, rest of "China factor" will be embedded into local brands

Eg. Renualt quited China 5 yrs ago, but now they exported Dacia Spring to EU from JV with DongFeng group.

The company mainly manufactures two new energy passenger vehicle models: Dacia Spring Step One and Step Two, and exports them to Europe. From the export of 184 NEVs in small volume last year to the export of over 10,000 units in the first half of this year, eGT-NEV worked at full capacity to accelerate the production of NEVs.

China aims to launch Mars sample-return mission around 2028

(Xinhua) 16:24, September 05, 2024
HEFEI, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- China plans to carry out the Tianwen-3 mission through two launches around 2028, aiming to bring back samples from Mars, a Chinese space expert said on Thursday.

Liu Jizhong, chief designer of China's Mars sample-return mission, unveiled the details at the 2nd International Deep Space Exploration Conference in Tunxi of Huangshan City in east China's Anhui Province.

The primary scientific goal of the mission will be searching for signs of life. To realize the goal, Chinese space engineers have to tackle key technologies such as collecting samples on the Martian surface, taking off from the Red Planet, rendezvous on the orbit around Mars, as well as planetary protection, Liu explained.

According to the plan, the mission will consist of 13 phases, executed through methods such as in-situ and remote-sensing detections.

China will earnestly adhere to international conventions and carry out measures to safeguard both Mars and Earth, as well as the samples, from contamination during the mission, Liu said.

The Tianwen-3 mission will carry payloads developed through international cooperation, and China will collaborate with scientists from around the world to conduct joint research on Mars samples and detection data, Liu said.

In the long term, China will collaborate with other countries or research institutions around the world to carry out mission and task definition, requirement analysis, conceptual research, implementation plan design and key technology breakthroughs for the construction of a research station on Mars, Liu added.

As usual you either don't understand what I'm conveying or pretend not to . There's no JV between a foreign firm & a Chinese EV OEM. There's only rebadging coz western automobile companies woke up to alternatives to ICE rather late which suits China just fine .

However there's a little something called shareholders & profits. You can't expect to profit much from borrowed technology for it eventually shows up in the balance sheet.

The shareholders go to the press raising Cain. The press will demand a level playing field for ALL cars irrespective of the make in the consumer's interest. But of course Gwailou governments can't allow it so it raises huge tariffs on those Chinese EV OEMs making it difficult for them to sell cars under their own brand which leaves only two options get into the rebadging business or sell technology

So they squeeze the Chinese EV OEMs to boost their profitability and to beat competition by offering better discounts . What do you expect the Chinese OEM & CCP to do ? Subsidise Gwailou OEMs or their own ? In the meanwhile CCP reciprocates Gwailou governments move by raising tariffs on Gwailou cars selling in China.

At the same time though Gwailou OEMs want their governments to subsidise them , Gwailou governments either can't or won't for their economies won't permit it & they'd be faced by the same dilemma as the CCP which is should they be subsiding Chinese OEMs or their own OEMs which is now rebadging cars or using Chinese battery tech. This will result in even more tariffs which will be reciprocated by the CCP.

This is what a trade war looks like.

Not, u r jobless, u r not involved into current industrial world, u would only copy and paste some no sense knowledge from internet, so debate with you is.wasting time. Just time would prove u r wrong, like this:

pure emotions and no arguments in your post.

It simply shows you do not understand economics,

I will exemplify with BYD

Common market customs union European union example

Volkswagen does not pay tariffs when it sells in Italy or France but BYD pay tariffs when sells in Italy or France.

Italy imposes the same tariff to BYD that Germany or France impose

Free trade agreement example Mexico Canada USA

Mexico impose 35% tariff to BYD USA canada impose 100% since we are not a customs union.

BYD made cars in Mexico pay tariffs in the USA and Canada if the cars do not have 80% of parts made in north america with north american materials, and USA and Canadian labour paid USD $16 dollars and hour.

Ford can block BYD by imposing such rules.

When Volkswagen invest in France common currency cheapen expenses, prices are in Euros.
BYD loses since Euro is more expensive and Yuan cheaper thus paying salaries in EU is much more expensive

Not the same, Mexico is top10 car maker, but you don't have ur own strong brand, and no tech.

Those big companies export those brand from China, they just re-brand from Chinese partner directly, all the original tech and designs are made by Chinese companies.

And international companies double the price, ur nation is on the bottom of industry chain.

GM directly re brand from Wuling.

this even proves more my point how capitalism works since Stellanies working with a Chinese partner, it shows capitalism does not care about nationality.

But that is not unique to China as you are trying to imply

AYCO-Volkswagen bus, AYCO from Mexico/Volkswagen from Germany so what tell me what is the fact that makes us less?

Your theory is simply stupid, global capitalism means partnerships, and cars are not super high tech

Additionally, Safran Aircraft Engines will extend its engine production plant Safran Aircraft Engines Mexico (SAEM) for the new LEAP fan and turbine modules as well as the final assembly lines to support the production ramp-up of the new generation CFM engine, creating 150 jobs. The LEAP engine is a major commercial success, with over 7,500 units already in operation, logging more than 50 million flight hours, and an order backlog that tops 10,600 units.
Safran and Albany inaugurated today, in Mexico, a third joint manufacturing plant to make composite parts for the LEAP aircraft engine. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Francisco Domínguez Servién, Governor of the State of Querétaro, Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, Mexico's Minister of Communications and Transport, Philippe Petitcolin, Chief Executive Officer of Safran, Olivier Andriès, Chief Executive Officer of Safran Aircraft Engines, and Joseph Morone, President and Chief Executive Officer of Albany International Corp.
Sonora strengthens its aerospace arm with the inauguration of a new plant in Hermosillo, Sonora. AT Engine, a joint project by Mexican Altaser Aerospace and the German Aerotech launched in 2017, inaugurated its manufacturing plant this Sunday. The 3.5ha plant represented a US$200 million investment and is expected to generate 400 aerospace jobs. It will focus on the production of engine parts and other aviation technologies to strengthen the state’s value chains.
This technology has helped us a lot because we went from having unreliable results and remeasurements to having reliable results from the first time,” emphasized Gómez Gil.

AT Engine, an aerospace company resulting from an alliance between Grupo Punto Alto and the German company Aerotech Peissenberg, is located in Hermosillo, Sonora, and provides parts that are assembled in Airbus and Boeing Leap engines.

you simply do not understand globalization

We asked the European Commission about this matter, and it told us that both the European Union and the United States are investigating potential excessive dependencies for mature node ("legacy") semiconductors.

The European Union is also gathering information from the industry via a targeted consultation to assess further the use of legacy chips in supply chains, a spokesperson said in a statement, and both partners (EU and US) may develop joint or cooperative measures to address dependencies or distortionary effects.

In its statement, the European Commission also mentioned the EU-US Trade and Technology Council (TTC), a transatlantic talking shop for the two powers to discuss common approaches to trade and technology challenges.

Different countries different leaders but economic union makes different nations have same policies, BYD pays Tariffs, Volkswagen does not pay tariffs in the EU, same currency for different countries but

All the countries in blue sanction China and put tariffs to China but some people deny world government, obviously Portugal is the same country as Estonia or greece

As pointed out plenty of times in the past based on books , interviews , documentaries , podcasts etc here's another confirmation behind the "success" of the Chinese economy.

It's based upon the exploitation of 90% of the population by 10% where 600 million people slave for low wages in exploitative conditions boosting the exports of the country thereby building up its capacities benefiting mostly the CCP & their cronies.

The podcast also gives us an insight into the "Chinese bird cage economy" where the political system is geared towards exercising ultimate control over the economy & thereby the industry which also includes the JVs between Gwailou & Chinese companies where inevitably after the Chinese partner has absorbed the necessary technologies the Gwailou company is dumped like a used condom.

Also informs us that however bad the economy , the CCP will never boost internal consumption as it means loss of power in the end in their perception & there's only this much they can export given they're already the factory of the world exporting 4 trillion USD worth of goods .

Btw the interviewee has made it his life's mission to study not just the history & culture of China but has been a resident of China since the past 30 years + . He definitely knows what he's talking about as he's been around for a long time .

Plenty of other gems in this podcast.

Must watch in my opinion , especially you . @rockdog !

China’s DRAM Expansion Raises Concerns, Potentially Impacting Samsung and SK hynix Profits

According to a report from Korean media ZDNet Korea, Chinese memory manufacturers like CXMT (Changxin Memory Technologies) are aggressively expanding production, which could negatively affect profitability in the traditional DRAM market. Both Samsung and SK hynix are said to be closely monitoring these developments.

Established in 2016, CXMT has become China’s largest DRAM producer with government backing, focusing on traditional DRAM and preparing to enter the HBM market.

Reportedly, CXMT has rapidly increased its DRAM production capacity, from 70,000 wafers per month in 2022 to 120,000 in 2023, and is projected to reach 200,000 wafers this year.

CXMT’s main products include 17nm and 18nm DDR4 and LPDDR4, with its latest offerings being 12nm DDR5 and LPDDR5X, which the company is also developing. Its aggressive DRAM expansion could negatively impact sales and profits for Korean memory manufacturers.

According to TrendForce’s data, the spot price of 16Gb DDR4 increased from $3 in the second half of 2023 to $3.50 in the first half of this year, before falling back to $3.30 in the second half of 2024.

For DDR5, prices have increased from $4.20 in October 2023 to over $4.50 in the first half of this year, approaching $5 in the second half.

By the end of August, the price premium of DDR5 over DDR4 had surged to 53.9%, up significantly from 36.9% six months earlier.

Per a recent report from Nomura Securities cited by ZDNet Korea, the rapid expansion of Chinese companies is expected to negatively impact the memory industry’s profitability, necessitating preparations for potential disruptions. CXMT’s production now accounts for about 5% of the market, potentially influencing prices.

The success of East Asia, the success of Confucianism
Did you understand what's written there in the posts you've quoted or has Baidu translate & your understanding further complicated matters ?

Besides , why're you conflating Taiwan Japan & RoK with China ? If it's your contention that these are Confucian societies , how come none of the other countries identify themselves as such ?

Truth be told upto the cultural revolution undertaken by your great helmsman 1.0 was about ridding Han societies of all such silly superstitions & regressive practises like Confucianism .

Finally how come China was invaded by another "Confucian" society like Japan in the 1930s & thoroughly brutalised ? Where did the brotherhood you speak about go ?

Confucianism has a profound presence and influence in East Asian countries, primarily reflected in the following aspects:

1. **China**: Confucianism is the core of traditional Chinese culture, influencing social ethics, political systems, and educational frameworks. Values such as benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trust emphasized by Confucianism remain significant in family and societal contexts.

2. **South Korea**: Confucian thought has historically dominated South Korea, affecting social structures and family values. The educational principles and respect for elders promoted by Confucianism are still evident in modern society.

3. **Japan**: Confucianism was introduced to Japan through China and has influenced its political, educational, and ethical perspectives. Although Japan has its own Shinto and Buddhist traditions, Confucian ethical concepts continue to play a role in society.

4. **Vietnam**: Confucianism has also held an important position in Vietnamese history, influencing its educational systems and social norms. The examination system and family values in Vietnam are shaped by Confucian thought.

5. **Influence**: The emphasis on harmony, etiquette, and social responsibility inherent in Confucianism continues to have a lasting impact on the culture of East Asian countries, even as modernization presents new challenges and changes.

Overall, the presence of Confucianism in East Asian countries is not only historical but continues to play a significant role in modern society.
