lol, you are contradicting yourself.

In the first post you compare a Chinese province with Indian ones.

In the next post, you tell someone else to not compare countries

You have a unique perspective

I did not change the subject, you simply can not say China is a dictatorship, I can say the Mexican president is corrupt in Radio or TV but you can not say that about Xi, do not lie to your self we are from different countries and political systems, definitively Mexico is corrupt there is crime and repression not a paradise but most citizens can opine in Mexico and say politicians are corrupt we have the right to opine

You can complain 24 hours a day,

You can elect a president once a month,

But it doesn't make much sense,

You should go back to Mexico and build your country.

On September 14, according to CCTV News, a relevant person from the National Railway Group stated today (14th) that the CR450 high-speed train development project, launched in 2021, has now entered the vehicle assembly stage, and the prototype is scheduled to roll off the production line in 2024, followed by a series of tests.

During the development process, 57 new technology component research experiments have been conducted, setting new records for the train's single-line speed of 453 km/h, relative crossing speed of 891 km/h, and tunnel crossing speed of 840 km/h.

The CR450 will fill the gap in the technical standard system for high-speed trains at a speed of 400 km/h, breaking the current world record for the fastest operational speed of high-speed trains, which is 350 km/h, held by China.

The CR450 will utilize new materials such as permanent magnets, magnesium alloys, and carbon fiber, reducing the fully loaded "weight" of passengers from over 500 tons to over 460 tons, while increasing the traction power to 11,000 kilowatts. Additionally, thanks to continuously improving braking equipment, the train can stop steadily within the emergency braking distance while traveling at 400 km/h. Furthermore, its start-up acceleration response time can be reduced by about 12%, and energy consumption can be lowered by 20%.

According to previous reports from IT Home, on June 28, 2023, the CR450 test train operated at a single-line maximum speed of 453 km/h and a maximum relative crossing speed of 891 km/h on the Meizhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge of the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway. On June 29, it operated at a single-line maximum speed of 420 km/h and a maximum relative crossing speed of 840 km/h, with new technology components performing well.

The "CR450 Technology Innovation Project" is a major scientific research project identified in the national "14th Five-Year Plan," which includes the development of new products for the Fuxing high-speed train series and several other high-speed rail technology innovation projects.

Currently, the Fuxing train has three speed levels: CR400, CR300, and CR200, corresponding to maximum continuous operational speeds of 350 km/h, 250 km/h, and 160 km/h, respectively. The current highest operational speed of China's high-speed rail trains is 350 km/h, maintained by the Fuxing CR400AF and CR400BF models.

On September 10, it was reported that carbon fiber is hailed as the king of new materials. Its fibrous form is soft and can be processed into various fabrics, with a very wide range of applications. According to CCTV, the first batch of heavy-duty railway freight cars made from domestically developed carbon fiber is currently undergoing final debugging in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang, and will soon be launched.

The research base, Beijing Low Carbon Clean Energy Research Institute, stated that traditional railway freight cars are primarily made of steel and aluminum alloy. The railway freight cars being launched this time are the first to use new materials primarily composed of carbon fiber, featuring reduced self-weight, increased load capacity, and larger volume.

Researchers indicated that the carbon fiber composite panels used in railway freight cars are made from carbon fiber as the raw material, with one of the key processes being "impregnation." By modifying polymer resins, their mechanical properties and environmental adaptability have been significantly enhanced. The modified polymer resin is impregnated with carbon fiber strands through the impregnation process to form carbon fiber prepreg (note: this is a sheet-like intermediate material).

Researchers used this special resin through the impregnation process and a high-temperature, high-pressure curing process to ultimately obtain the panels, whose strength far exceeds that of existing metal materials. Even when tested with a hammer by a CCTV reporter, there was no change at all.

In addition to freight cars, the world's first carbon fiber subway train for commercial operation, "CETROVO 1.0 Carbon Star Express," was officially launched in June this year in Qingdao. This train was developed jointly by CRRC Sifang and the Qingdao Metro Group, reducing weight by 11% compared to traditional subway vehicles. Currently, the train has completed factory type testing and is scheduled to enter passenger demonstration operation on Qingdao Metro Line 1 within the year.

USMCA review: Upcoming elections and a path forward

USMCA Forward 2024 | Chapter 8

Joshua P. Meltzer and Steve Verheul

March 6, 2024
Under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) review clause, on July 1, 2026, the U.S., Mexico, and Canada will confirm in writing whether or not to continue the agreement. If one or more of the three parties decide to take the step of not renewing the agreement, it will kick off a process that will leave the future of the USMCA in a state of uncertainty for years to come. That is, unless the objecting party or parties change their mind. Even though the six-year review is still more than two years away, the uncertainty provided by the review clause is already a significant preoccupation for the business communities in all three countries.

The U.S. has used two main arguments in support of the review clause: 1) the clause would provide the U.S. with leverage to make ongoing changes to the agreement and 2) it would force politicians to address difficult decisions rather than delay confronting them. On the first point, the U.S. Trade Representative during the Trump Administration, Robert Lighthizer, wrote that “we wanted a paradigm-changing agreement that would not only address current trade irritants but prevent the United States from ever again finding itself saddled with an unbalanced, outdated agreement and with no leverage to change it other than the costly and disruptive threat of outright withdrawal.”1 Similarly, Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and Senior Adviser to the President during the negotiations, asserted that “…it is imperative that the U.S. retain leverage in any of our trading relationships to prevent unfair trade practices and market distortions and correct them when they occur. The sunset provision will give us just that.”2

Lighthizer and Kushner have also argued that the review clause would be a means to put pressure on politicians to confront issues in the agreement with Kushner arguing that it would “force politicians to confront difficult issues and changing dynamics rather than kick the can down the road.”3

The U.S. proposal for a review clause was widely crit

Electric cars imported from China will pay tariffs starting in October
The end of the tariff exemption for electric vehicles imported from countries without a free trade agreement could raise their prices, thus reducing their accessibility.

As of October 1, 2024, the tariff benefit for electric vehicles imported from China comes to an end. Light electric vehicles imported from countries with which Mexico does not have a free trade agreement, including the Asian country, will lose the tariff exemption of between 15% and 20% that was granted since September 2020.

“Mexico has to do its own review because we buy 119 billion dollars a year from China and sell 11 billion to them,” he said at an event held in San Luis Potosí, where he accompanied President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and virtual president Claudia Sheinbaum.

For this reason, he is proposing to make a change in the investment policy and attention to foreign investment, in order to produce more and depend less on other countries, as is the case with China.

This photo taken on Sept. 22, 2024 shows the resistive magnet independently developed by Chinese scientists at the High Magnetic Field Laboratory of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CHMFL) in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province. (Xinhua/Zhang Duan)

HEFEI, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese scientists used an independently developed resistive magnet on Sunday to produce a steady magnetic field of 42.02 tesla, equivalent to over 800,000 times the Earth's magnetic field, breaking a world record set by the United States in this field in 2017.

The milestone achievement made by the High Magnetic Field Laboratory of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CHMFL) is expected to drive scientific discoveries and applications in a wide range of technological fields.

The steady high magnetic field is an extreme experimental condition, serving as a powerful tool for scientific research. In the experimental environment of a high magnetic field, the properties of matter can be manipulated, which is conducive to scientists discovering new phenomena and exploring new laws of matter, experts explained.

High magnetic fields can also give rise to new application technologies, such as electromagnetic metallurgy and chemical reaction synthesis, and especially the widespread utilization of nuclear magnetic resonance technology in medical science.

Due to its significant value in various fields such as physics, chemistry, material science and life science, the steady high magnetic field is referred to as the "cradle" of the Nobel Prizes.

The new achievement results from nearly four years of efforts by the research team, which involved innovating magnetic structures and optimizing manufacturing processes, said Kuang Guangli, academic director of CHMFL.

Kuang said this breakthrough could meet users' needs for a fast, regulated and stable high magnetic field, provide scientists with powerful experimental conditions, and lay a key technological foundation for China's construction of higher-field steady magnets.

Five major steady high magnetic field laboratories are located in the United States, France, the Netherlands, Japan and China.

As one of China's major items of scientific and technological infrastructure, the steady high magnetic field facility in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province, went into operation in 2017. Chinese scientists produced the world's highest steady magnetic field of 45.22 tesla by using a hybrid magnet at the facility in 2022.

Steady high magnetic field magnets include resistive magnets, superconducting magnets and hybrid magnets. According to experts, resistive magnets have the advantage of flexible and quick control, providing reliable and efficient experimental conditions for scientific research.

Kuang likened resistive magnets and superconducting magnets to singles players in table tennis and hybrid magnets to mixed doubles players. "After winning the mixed doubles championship in 2022, our team has now also claimed a singles championship," said Kuang.

China's steady high magnetic field facility has provided experimental conditions for more than 197 domestic and international institutions, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, the University of Science and Technology of China, and Harvard University. These users have carried out cutting-edge research in the fields of physics, chemistry, materials, engineering, life and health.

With the help of the facility, scientists have uncovered the molecular and neural mechanisms of enhancing learning and memory by exposure to sunlight, as well as developing drug candidates for targeted cancer therapy, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and diabetes.

Kuang said that the team plans to develop new steady magnets to support the development of new electronic materials, explore the mechanisms and applications of high-temperature superconductivity, study the pathology of major diseases and related drugs, and produce high-performance semiconductor materials.

yes so what you are 1400 million people, Germany is 80 Million people and exports 1.7T and The netherlands is 24 million and export almost 1 T. so what? Mexico is 130 million and exports 593B, so to put it in contexts your levels per capita are still third world

What Happens if China Stops Trying to Save the World?

... ...

In climate world, something that once seemed almost unthinkable may now be happening. Preliminary data shows that while global carbon emissions are continuing to rise, China’s emissions may already be peaking — the longtime climate villain turning the corner on carbon before the planet as a whole does.

Forecasts like these are not perfectly reliable, but already China has completely rewritten the global green transition story. You may be familiar with the broad strokes of that story: that thanks to several decades of mind-boggling declines in the cost of solar, wind and battery technology, a new wave of climate advocacy and dramatically more policy support, the rollout of various green energy technologies is tracing an astonishing exponential curve upward, each year making a mockery of cautious projections from legacy industry analysts.

But while this is often hailed as a global success, one country has dominated recent progress. When you look at the world outside of China, those eye-popping global curves flatten out considerably — green energy is still moving in the right direction, but much more slowly.

Consider solar power, which is presently dominating the global green transition and giving the world its feel-good story. In 2023, the world including China installed 425 gigawatts of new solar power; the world without China installed only 162 gigawatts. China accounted for 263 gigawatts; the United States accounted for just 33. As recently as 2019, China was installing about one-quarter of global solar capacity additions; last year, it managed 62 percent more than the rest of the world combined. Over those same five years, China grew its amount of new added capacity more than eight times over; the world without China didn’t even double its rate.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -General Motors and Ford Motor would need to stop importing vehicles to the U.S. from China under a proposed rule cracking down on Chinese software and hardware, a U.S. Commerce Department official told Reuters Monday.

The rule would also affect other automakers selling or building vehicles in the U.S., such as Volvo Cars and BYD.

GM sells the Buick Envision and Ford sells the Lincoln Nautilus -- both assembled in China -- in the U.S. market. Ford did not comment. In the first six months of 2024, GM sold about 22,000 Envisions and Ford sold 17,500 Nautilus SUVs in the U.S.

"We anticipate at this point that any vehicle that is manufactured in China and sold in the U.S. would fall within the prohibitions," said Liz Cannon, who heads the Commerce Department's information and communications technology office.

GM and Ford are aware, she added, that "going forward" that production in China for the U.S. market "would need to be shut down in China and moved elsewhere."

GM did not address if it thought it would have to halt sales of the Envision but added the "government has an important role to set clear policies" on security issues.

Commerce said it would allow companies to seek a "specific authorization" to continue sales of vehicles or components.

China's BYD North America, a unit of BYD, which builds electric buses in Lancaster, California could be impacted. The company did not immediately comment.

"We will have to work with them to better understand their supply chain," Cannon said. "They will have to come in for a specific authorization."

For example, software would likely be prohibited if it were developed by a team of Chinese employees in that country for a Chinese automaker. But software would likely be allowed if it were developed by Chinese employees working in another country for a non-Chinese company.

Reuters reported in May four Chinese vehicle models are sold in the U.S. including the Polestar 2 and Volvo's S90 sedans. Polestar and Volvo are affiliates of Chinese automaker Geely.

Cannon said she expects companies like Volvo will meet with Commerce "to work with us to talk about ways that they could mitigate the risk and we are open to that" and the agency could grant them an authorization.

Volvo Cars said "We are reviewing the proposal from the U.S. Commerce Department and are analyzing any potential impact it might have on us and the auto industry in the U.S."
