With a $75 million investment, the French group Safran inaugurated its sixth plant in Querétaro and announced an additional $25 million investment for further expansion of its operations in the state.
In partnership with the American firm Albany, the company will produce composite blades for the new generation of LEAP engines at its sixth plant. This is the third joint venture between Safran and Albany, similar to and complementary to those already located in the United States and France.

The parts produced in Querétaro are intended for LEAP-1B engines assembled in the United States to equip the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Safran's sixth plant delivered its first blades in October 2017. It currently employs 230 people and is expected to reach 600 by 2021. It projects an annual production of more than 20,000 blades and 31,000 OGV parts for that year.
Philippe Petitcolin, CEO of Safran, noted that Mexico will make an important contribution to the future of the group, which currently ranks as the third largest aeronautical player in the world.
