I totally agree.I don't know what will replace the dollar or the present western imposed financial system on the world. But one thing is clear Chinese clearly don't want the current system replaced anytime soon. They posted close to $1 Trillion in trade surplus. They still have $760 billion in treasury bonds and their $3 Trillion in forex which are all in dollars or Euros. Replacing the current system will bring systematic collapse of the West and pulls down any country closely linked with the West.
Chinese are slowly selling their treasury bonds. It used to be above $1 Trillion. Now it's almost 25% lesser. Do they have a plan in mind? I don't know. As you said RMB can't replace the dollar given it's restrictions and how Chinese economy is structured. So what are the options? I can't see any right now. The only thing I see is Chinese trying to take over Taiwan and go head to head with USA and defeating and more or less destroying the USA will give them the power to dictate what comes after the dollar. This is also easier said than done. Since going against USA means Chinese would have taken more than a bloody nose. Even if they come out winning they will barely be able to stand. All in all the world is going to be a messy place if that happens.
Until then, let's enjoy the Ponzi scheme of Uncle Sam who continues to print the dollar to fund their deficit while we exchange our hard labor and precious resources and pretend we got something valuable in return.
