Are any of the members here Kodavas? If yes, than could you please let me know what's going on with this https://indialegallive.com/constitu...odava-coorg-arms-licence-exemption-challenge/ and who is the lawyer handling this in the Supreme Court for you guys?
What's there to understand ? The Kodavas were traditionally exempt from holding an arms licence to bear arms since British times which was later extended by the GoI post independence & now thru a legislation which a Kodava busy body has now challenged in the SC , as against the concept & principle of equality under the Constitution of India.

bhakti isnt nonsense....but one way of reaching for moksha. there r four ways of getting moksha:-
1:- karma yoga.
2:- bhakti yoga.
3:- raja yoga.
4:- gyan yoga.
out of them karma yoga is best path for moksha nd krishna advice this in geeta with bhakti yoga. bhakti yoga is consider for common people. ISCON type group mainly using this medium. so nothing wrong in bhakti, bhajan etc.
I have ascribed to the Captain Ajit Vadakayil school of philosophy. Bhakti is nonsense.

I am working on a petition to get right to keep and bear arms acknowledged as a fundamental right and I am looking for a lawyers to can take that up. And since the Kodavas are already fighting this I was hoping to join forces with them.

problem isnt about population.... ideally india should hv near 500 million or 50 crore population maximum. main problem in india is demography change. otherwise one and two child is best option for india to control its population. there is also huge young population, who dont want to marry. if we solve demography change problem, than current path is good for india.

What you're intending & what the Kodavas are experiencing are totally contradictory ! The Kodavas were given a carve out which is to say that while the right to bear arms isn't a fundamental right , they were granted this privilege by the British , an arrangement which continued post independence & which has been formalized under the law now .

It is precisely this privilege or carve out which is being challenged in the SC as being repugnant to the right to equality under the law as guaranteed by the constitution.

You can draft as many petitions you want & present them in the SC but the judiciary isn't empowered to make laws . That's the remit of the legislature. The judiciary can only interpret these laws as per the constitution which also includes striking down laws deemed to be against the constitution in letter or spirit or both.

One the laws that the British implemented right after the mutiny Act XXVIII of 1857 explicitly recognized the right to keep and use arms. It states “An Act relating to the importation, manufacture, and sale of Arms and Ammunition, and for regulating the right to keep or use the same”
The Arms Act of 1959 was enacted to consolidate and amend laws related to firearms and ammunition. It consolidated the existing framework of laws, including the provisions of Act XXVIII of 1857, which previously regulated the right to keep and use arms.

While granting exemption to the Kodavas in February 1861, the then Chief Commissioner of Coorg, Mark Cubbon, said in the notification : “In consideration of the exalted honour and loyalty characteristic of this little nation of warriors and in recollection of its conspicuous services in aid of the British government, it is my pleasing duty to notify hereby for general information, in virtue of the power vested in me by the government of India that provisions of the Arms Act, commonly called Disarming Act, are not applicable to the gallant people of Coorg.”

Now the idea here is if we are able to get the supreme court to recognize RKBA as a fundamental right there would be no need for the exemption, but if they are too thick headed to realize this then its fine.
