Gormint setting up SPV for RTA project;

I still won't read too much into this development but SPVs might be the breakthrough this gormint needed to venture into truly cutting edge stuff.

Also, looks like the service focused startups are following in on Ola's footsteps, ie, the 'make a fortune and then venture into hard tech' playbook.

OLA se zyada better attitude Ather ka hai for product development. Whatever they produce they maintain quality. But alas they dont have great funding to go big guns.

I know, I have made a no of posts appreciating Ather and Ultraviolette. But Ola and others are doing decently - yeah, granted they went overboard with PR and hype but still... service cos venturing into hard tech needs to be encouraged. Sridhar Vembu is carving out a niche for himself by funding multiple early stage hard tech start-ups. This needs to be encouraged more.

Apparently LAT Aerospace not to be confused with L&T is backed by Deepinder Goyal of Zomato.

While Boeing & Airbus aren't determined to repeat Airbus's mistake in China irrespective whatever consolation or considerations they offer GoI, the latter's gone ahead extending MII to Airbus for an FAL of a 5 decade old hptr in H-125 where if news reports are to be believed this model is in direct competition with the LUH in the military domain, given alleged design & mfg issues with the latter.

In any case, the H-125 is definitely expected to tap into the virgin Indian civilian hptr market unopposed though recent reports indicate HAL seems to have gotten out of its reverie.

For all the pious thoughts Naidu gaaru's having about the need for CSIR - NAL to develop an indigenous RTA , I'm yet to see any concrete plans .

This must be the third or fourth time in as many months Naidu gaaru's expressed such intentions which the post men at ToI / ET duly posted here with nothing by way of analysis - the mechanics of the entire thing : the where when how who why etc.

No it's a carrot being dangled to get the C-390 transport jet order which will anyhow include local assembly
Embraer also makes these small passenger planes with two engines and private jet type planes.

That's the big one, MTA order would be for 40 transport jets, you could ask them to build the private jets for Netra also as a bonus :bplease:

EMBRAER is planning on a FAL in India , so how can ATR - their arch rival & competitor already part of the existing Indian civilian aerospace ecosystem be far behind ?

Meanwhile the RTA has been languishing for years if not decades so much so that the MTA which was tied to the RTA earlier has now been divorced from the it !

There are some moves by this government which are truly exemplary like our policy initiatives on SMC & AI & so on but some like this one or the Kaveri TF project which are truly baffling to say the least .

I'd go so far as to say that Atma Nirbharta or MII is less about strategic autonomy more about decreased costs with this government not that the former doesn't play a part in their thought process but given the way defence as a subject has been handled by this government , I'm not inclined to give them the benefit of doubt.
