This year has been disappointing in reports releases from central govt. There are multiple departments who have not released up to date data or even when data is released it is not bifurcated like being done since last many years.​

I am sure that they had to pay a lot of upfront capital costs. It should get better in the years to come.

Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) has significantly reduced transit times between Sonnagar and Dadri from 34 hours to just 19-20 hours—a 40% reduction.

Similarly, the transit time for essential commodities, like milk from Palanpur to the NCR region, has been reduced by approximately 30%, from 24 hours to just 16 hours, ensuring quicker delivery to consumption centres.​

In EXIM Traffic the transit time between the NCR area and the ports on the western coast, has been reduced from around 72 hours to just 24-28 hours, significantly boosting our competitiveness in international trade.

DFCCIL successfully launched the Trucks on Train (TOT) service between New Palanpur and New Rewari on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). This initiative has not only generated a revenue of ₹32 crores in the year 2023-24,but also it has reduced emissions.​

In FY 2023-24, the Honourable Prime Minister acknowledged DFCCIL's transformative impact on India's freight transportation sector, highlighting its crucial role in driving the nation towards a US$ 5 trillion economy and solidifying its position as a future global economic leader.

The Company has received triple A rating by the multiple rating agencies.​

DFC doubles freight traffic, handles 13 per cent of railways’ freight load already

According to official sources with the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL), netween April and October 2024, freight gauged as net tonne kilometers (NTKMs) on the corridor stood at 62,282 million which is equivalent of 292.4 million per day. The corresponding number for the last year was 32,164 million, or 151 million per day. The doubling of the freight traffic is on account of 522 kms of DFC network – 294 km in eastern DFC and 228 km in western DFC – coming into operations in FY24​

“We are expecting a further 20% jump in freight traffic after the remaining 102 kms of stretch on the western DFC is likely to be completed by the end of 2025. The traffic earnings for FY25 are also expected to surpass previous records by a huge margin,” said the official.​

We have not heard a thing about two railway corridors from Delhi to Mumbai and Delhi to Howrah about to be finished. Can somebody update us on these.

WDFC (Delhi to Mumbai) is done 90%, trains are running. Should be fully complete by end of 2025 or worst case 2026. Only 110 km left (Gholvad-JNPT).

EDFC (Ludhiana-Delhi- Dankuni) : Completed from Ludhiana to Sonnagar (Bihar). However, last 538 kms were supposed to be built in PPP. However, no private player showed up and there were also land acquisition issues. Last I heard railways were converting existing railway lines in that section to 4 lines. Apparently out of 538 kms, some 170 is already 4 line, so govt. was planning to make the rest 4 line as well. Not sure of progress of tha 4 lining project.

land survey has to be done physically along the proposed hundreds/thousands of KM, then DPR, then cost estimation and approval etc. lots of process involved.

getting this process right, is more important than starting the project. without the correct planning, project will start, but will not be completed.
