too much generalisation by this krishnan. when domestic defence production is 1.2 lakh crore and rising, where does he think this money goes to. even if the final integrator of a product is a DPSU, part of it goes to private sector.

You ignore the fact that Indian companies have sunk quite a bit of R&D costs in expectations of orders of their products. If their R&D efforts are not rewarded, then it is back to square one just like with the Arjun tank.

what R&D? ToT is being provided by DRDO itself these days.

as far as products being made for Indian defence forces are concerned, they are being made with Indian RFIs in mind. even L2 is being accommodated these days.
if a product is so good, then GoI is facilitating exports as well.

Yes in the beginning but the companies must undertake R&D themselves and must have sufficient confidence that their efforts will be rewarded down the road. DRDO cannot be indefinitely expected to do all the R&D efforts. Private companies must step up to the plate and they will only do that once they know that if their R&D efforts produce products on specs or exceed them their products will be ordered in large quantities. It’s all about providing reassurance and confidence.

you are funny mate, when i say your tax money is being looted in the country you live in, you say that's not my problem. but you have concerns about how my tax money is being spent :bplease:
 
1. Originally, Kusha was known as XRSAM and was supposed to have a range of 250km.
2. Later DRDO modified the system and now Kusha was supposed to have two missiles i.e. ERSAM with 150km range and XRSAM with 350km range. The whole system was dubbed as ERADS or Extended Range Air Defence System.
3. The Kusha system was given a new programme name i.e. PGLRSAM which stands for Programme Long Range Surface to Air Missile. It was now supposed to have three missiles.
4. The three missiles were known as M1, M2 and M3. The M1 missile was expected to have a range of 80km and it was not supposed to have any external booster attached to it.
5. The M1 missile was very similar in looks and performance to Akash-NG.
6. The M1 missile was to fill the role of Kill Vehicle for M2 and M3 missiles having ranges 250km and 350km respectively.
7. M2 and M3 missiles were shown to have big boosters attached to it for achieving the expected ranges.
8. Now, in the latest iteration: all the three missiles i.e. M1, M2 and M3 are going to have an external booster attached to them. M1, M2 and M3 will have ranges of 150km, 250km and 350km respectively.

With indigenous Virupaksha radar & IRST coming in existence... RWR & MAWS realized earlier... & Russian offer of a 5th gen AL-31FN engine... why not place orders for 50-100 additional enhanced Su-30s... we already have all the weapons compliment... RCS can be reduced with application of RAM where needed.

I think the committee set up in defence ministry to find a solution to IAF's fighter shortage may think on this line... maybe I am expecting too much from one exam wonders.
