Most probably to scare de shité out of local firms resulting in them pricing their offering in line with other international systems like Chunmoo or PULSIf they have their own why are doing L'evaluation?
What Baguetterie is this?
The French currently don't have any rocket artillery apart from the M270 MLRS.
And that's it...that's sadly the only USP of Pinaka.IMO, Pinaka MBRL offers the best bang for buck.
"Nexter MLRS" is screwdriver m270.
DRDO had a 300mm MBRL program since 20 yrs. it was sabotaged for protecting Smerch imports by Chandigarh lobby. The thing is we got this Pinaka Mlrs, a good product. But then we sat on it, did nothing. We could have rolled out multiple calibre rockets with diff warheads and ranges but yeah we did nothing. Only recently LRGR 300mm rocket project was cleared.
I don't know why but our Artillery command didn't seem interested in atleast making drdo work for it. Had there been interest or intent by IA, we certainly would have gotten some kind of project on it.
We did nothing while Chinese were pumping various rockets and then koreans are doing the same, while we still are lagging.
I see Chinese inducting new concepts while our guys struggle to even catch up to current standards.
It's like saying Kalashnikov SR-1 is a screwdriver AR-15 because it also uses the same STANG magazine."Nexter MLRS" is screwdriver m270.
Reason is simple - the entire army officer corps is made up of dimwitted back benchers (all the bright ones are fished out by the Navy and Air Force), that's why.The thing is we got this Pinaka Mlrs, a good product. Pod is the same and the rocket is the same . It is a screwdriver project. No matter how hard you spin it.It's like saying Kalashnikov SR-1 is a screwdriver AR-15 because it also uses the same STANG magazine.
The fact is, due the wide availability, maturity and ease of loading all Western MLRS systems try to use the same M270 pods. It's something similar to AK/AR magazines and 70mm rockets and NATO standard 120mm tank gun.
M270...same pod
HIMARS...same pod
Chunmoo...same pod
Homar-K...same pod
Okay Sir, completely agreeing with you...it's a screwdriver project.Pod is the same and the rocket is the same . It is a screwdriver project. No matter how hard you spin it.
My remark was regarding tank guns made around the same bore, chamber and pressure constraints...The French 120mm cannon is distinct from the reihnmetal 120mm so that comparison is incorrect.
Suuure .. everything is same cause the ammo is identical.Okay Sir, completely agreeing with you...it's a screwdriver project.
Hope my acceptance would make the French ditch it and order some Katyushas

But ya, you're totally right here too
Naah, that would be so lame of a reason. What's next vz 58 and ak 47 are the same cause they fire the same ammo ?
Whatever as long as our weapons are not used in the Ukraine conflict we should sell weapons to anyone but Pakistan and China or their supporters such as Turkey or Bangladesh.By proxy they will. They will unload all their old systems to ukraine and import to make up the shortfall.
It's actually insane to watch all the cold war stock piles from both sides being burnt in this "limited conflict".
