In 2017 SAFRAN Audit given greenlit for testing the engine in Fighter plane. By early 2020-21 GTRE started to ask for MIG29 to test the engine. The answer from GOI is big NO. They asked for FTB. The answer is NO. They asked for Lab facility, the answer is NO. Did they give money for GTRE. The answer is big NO.

RD-33 is an poor engine, with poor MTBO. Both IAF and IN have poor experience with that engine. The baseline Kaveri produce the same output as RD-33. Already the engine is on flight test in Russia and brahmos corporation is working on Afterburner section for now. The dry thrust requirement is already achieved 54KN. It is matter of time to test the engine with Afterburner.

Spend the damn money man on your engine. Otherwise you will wait for some Russians, Americans to give the engines which will be comes with own complications. The Russians will ask for higher cost for ToT. The Americans will have terms and conditions and whims of Dems/Republics.

It hardly takes 5 years to build this engine. This is the engine using 2rd Gen materials. We already have 3rd Gen material in the DMS4. Just pour money like chinese and get that engine.

Even an stripped out AMCA with External weapons bay with this engine can do the job. It will be our own Twin engine 4.5 Gen aircraft.

What is K-LCA engine ? Is it the engine with Afterburner or just KDE ?

if klca is being discusses then maybe both the dry and full version got tested on high altitude testbed and flying testbed

Aside from putting in contract at some point we need to steal and reverse engineer and do industrial espionage if we're serious about making a world class engine.
This is aside from big budget for the development and infrastructure purchase for it.

Main problem of Kaveri is it is a half-assed time pass project and totally not serious, just like Tejas or anything aerospace

you think we aint doing this? my friend has his mama in cvrde, and believe me, they have learnt a lot but not at a level like the chinese
but they have to be careful to not bring it in light at international level or its over for us

each and every country does some level of espionage remotely or at their labs

There's only one way I can see 110KN engine JV to work, and that is if the OEM engineers & technicians work in India during the D&D period, or else JV will fail, no amount word celling in Legal documents will make this JV work, if the D&D activities happen in Zooropean land

AFAIK that deal was not espionage, it was part of a weird barter exchange where the french gave ISRO engine tech in exchange for some actuators and a set amount of man hours of research/physics/computational use of our guys.

Bit hazy on details tho.
