Most interesting thing is Pralay warhead configurations

For soft skin targets
PF Warhead Type 1 -> 370 Kg can fuck green jihadi pigs in Most painful manner
PF Warhead Type 2 -> 700 Kg



For Hardened aircraft shelters & Bunkers
PCB Warhead -> 700 Kg
SAAW PCB Warhead with just 80 Kg weight can penetrate 1.2 Meter THICC RCC


Now imagine what 700 Kg Pralay PCB Warhead will do to porky Hardened aircraft shelters



For Runway destruction
RDPS Warhead -> 350 Kg ( 10 x Sub munitions ) (~ 65 meters damage radius)

I get your point Buddy, but you just quoted the weakest argument possible against acquisition malpractices.

If an ATAGS is unable to traverse 50km to reach its optimal firing position due to bad terrain, then the target would get outranged. But if a Pralay TEL is unable to traverse even 100km, then also it'd lose just ⅕ of its effective range.

Also, what you quoted are contemporary only in terms of role, not performance. Iskander is 3.8t and IAI "a common Delhi slang" is just 1.6t...compared to 5.1t for Pralay. If you want examples of cases where an indigenous option was rejected but an almost exact system was imported, then it would be AK-203 and Trichy Assault Rifle.

It is less of the problem of transversing mountain passes, The problem here is in case of ATAGS firing, the soil in significant no. Of ( not all) areas in mountains is not strong enough to support the weight of atags let alone firing and atags digs into the soil or recoils back which can mess up with it's accuracy and a potential danger for the crew.
Now there are also areas with strong enough soil, but army also need the firepower and range in those areas where soil is more weaker.
So it's not the fault of atags, it's that in certain areas geography demands a lighter gun, so either go for another lighter gun with less range or make atags more lighter( along with some other jugaad to make it better sit down on the soil) while still enjoying the firepower and range.

That's my post.

Pralay is a wooden missile like . Won't require any maintenance besides periodic checks after 7-10 yrs.

I firmly believe that orders for Pralay have already been placed. Signing of every contract isn't made public. According to Ajit K Dubey, IAF has received approval to acquire 120 missiles and IA has recieved the go ahead to acquire 250 missiles for two regiments.

DRDO has understated the actual range of Pralay.

Iskander BM weighs 3.8-4 ton and has a max 500 km range. Pralay weighs 5.1 ton.

There's also a 8 x 8 TEL which can carry a single missile.

ATAGS can be fired all over India, there are ample videos of it. One can watch it in Sikkim trials.
This is just propaganda now that ATAGS is heavy and cumbersome. It's shells that are going to be pounded on enemy not whole gun, so better to remember and better set out priority here.
Also, pralay can only be used in few hundred numbers but SHELLS are numerous.
Regarding pictures, here it is, if these needs trailers and can be transported to the front. Then that's rest the case.

I am too pro ATAGS. But your argument is not valid nor comparison. The missiles dont need to be deployed close to the border. ATAGS do need to be. So both are not going to be operated from same geographical location.

Pralay is based on K 15/Shaurya. So you see a slender long design. Missile can be made short but fat like Iskander /Prithvi OR Long and Slender like Pralay. As others have stated Pralay range is understated.
