Incentives like?
Incentives like being completely self reliant in most area's of defense despite being a strong American ally. South Korea acknowledges the possible North korean threat, and an indecisive decision by Washington could leave the Koreans stranded to fend for itself for the first few days of war. It knows it cannot 100% only depend on America to defend itself. Incentives like not scamming themselves everytime they want new military hardware, and the latest hardware at that. To Also be competitive on the world stage, and be a world innovator in the arms industry.

Importing everything will never produce a world class military, aswell as costing the importer far more than what it would cost to produce domestically.

What India needs is a more serious bureaucratic system that can completely understand India's current military and political situation. Where if it wants to maintain mostly neutral politically on the global stage, yet still be a strong partner with the US to counter China, it needs to seriously take all threats to national security seriously.

An Arms deal with Washington should signal that India is happy to work with America to counter the rise of Chinese modernization and aggression as well as curb the terrorism efforts of Pakistan. It does not mean India is now a slave to America. Many arms deals are more political acquisitions than strictly for military modernization.

If India has the motivation to become completely self reliant, it will become self reliant whether there is foreign imports or not. However from the looks of things right now, it almost feels like the whole system be it the policy makers or HAL themselves seem to be taking relative peace and small skirmishes for granted. There's absolutely no urgency. Acquisitions are constantly delayed and funding withdrawn with absolutely no consequences to any of the parties.

Atmanirbhar Bharat is clearly very popular so the incentives are already there. What's missing is the attitude to achieve it no matter the cost.

How do other militaries induct these so fast then?
Like they literally take less than a year or two to fully induct shit

they don't. we don't track them closely.

and there is that self-defeatist attitude you are a brand ambassador of, which starts with the presumption "it's only Indians who do it wrong, and everybody else must be doing everything right".

this is for M777, which was originally a british gun developed in 87.

Buying American shit does not mean India cannot develop a strong military industrial base. South korea also buys American equipment and still maintains a competitive military industry. There just needs to be incentives to invest domestically.
But they dont kill their own indigenous products and solutions.
Our people want stryker and then kill drdo whap.
Buy t90 and then kill arjun.
Many more examples i dont want to go in.

Talks about finishing reform process in next 3 months . It's Raghavan commitee reform he is talking about . Govt had accepted some of these advice from committee. Many has already been implemented ..

Drdo shifting to R&D and leave prototype, product management , testing approval to private sector was one of the advice . Another still to be accomplished is lab consolidation from 41 to 10 .

leave prototype, product management , testing approval to private sector was one of the advice .
For that private sector first needs to capable of doing that.
As someone already quoted, private mf's can't even build a complete biplane without foreign tot.
There are specific private companies that make specific high end Aerospace parts and even fuselages, but no private company has capability to manage and test aircrafts on its own, only HAL dpsu has that in the country for now.

Yeah in aerospace we have only HAL to manage and test aircraft . Private players managing role of supplier of parts . Currently 563 companies are supplying various parts for tejas . The report was not about HAL or any other dpsu , it was about drdo reform .. As per committee Drdo should be a purely R&D institution and should leave burden of product development , testing , administrative headaches to others .

They already do that to a large extent, like the prototype for tejas mk2 is being made at HAL's facility.

We need a committe to improve the quality of committies and their suggestion :facepalm4:

‘Sanjay’ flagged off Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh flagged–off ‘Sanjay – The Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS)’ from South Block, New Delhi on 24 January 2025. Sanjay is an automated system which integrates the inputs from all ground and aerial battlefield sensors, processing them to confirm their veracity, preventing duplication and fusing them to produce a Common Surveillance Picture of the battlefield over secured Army Data Network & Satellite Communication Network. It will enhance battlefield transparency and transform the future battlefield through a Centralised Web Application which will provide inputs to Command and Army Headquarters, and the Indian Army Decision Support System Screenshot_2025-07-10-13-26-31-30_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.webp

  • SAL Seeker ATGM for BMP II (Bharat Dynamics Limited): Semi-Active Laser Seeker based Anti-Tank Guided Missile for BMP-II is a subsonic missile with a range of 4,000 metres and flight time of 25 seconds. The missile weighs 23 kgs with the launch tube and can be used in different kinds of terrains to incapacitate the moving and stationary targets such as tanks and Infantry Combat Vehicles.
BDL unveiled two new anti–tank guided missiles:
Amogha II and Prabha. Prabha has been developed
primarily to be used from infantry combat vehicles as a replacement for the older Konkurs–M series. While it also does have a semiautomaticcommand to line of sight (SACLOS) commandguidance, unlike the Konkurs, it does not have a wire for guidance. It is a laser beam rider guided missile (LBRGM). Meanwhile, not much could be known of Amogha II. But possibly, it’s the man–portable variant of the Prabha. Or, better to say, Prabha is the ICV–mounted variant of the Amogha II.

And good to see something from the Pravaig stable operationalised and praised! So far, their civilian cars have not met with any success( far as can be seen). Though they were once hyped as a kind of Indian Tesla.

Question: in a couple those pics, why are they showing a hollowed out and even badly damaged vehicle. Not a good promotion, if that's what they are doing.
