According to the Economic Survey of Pakistan 2024-25, the overall literacy rate in Pakistan is approximately
60.6%
, with a notable gender disparity: 68% for males and 52.8% for females. The literacy rates for the provinces, as reported in the survey, are as follows:
- Punjab: 66%
- Sindh: 57.5%
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK): 51.1%
- Balochistan: 42%
It's important to note here is that the literacy rates in Sindh and KPK have declined in the last 15 years.
On top of that, a whopping 40% of children are out of school.
India had this kind of figures back in 1995-1997 era. Just goes on to show how primitive Pakistan is.
