I remember back in 2016, I was speaking to someone in the MEA. That was when the CPEC hype was at its peak, so I brought it up as a serious possibility that pakistan might turn its economy around through Chinese investment. The officer laughed it off and said that pakis are useless, and they'll throw it down the drain. Hilarious how right he was. Our foreign policy establishment has a good read on pakistan.
