Dalda has all but disappeared from India because Indians became health conscious and started being able to afford better cooking oils. Dalda the company has largely branched off to selling refined vegetable oils in India, with limited success.

Today lot of people have awareness about Vanaspathi. But still people who cannot afford ghee relies on this. Also it is a common adulterant for Ghee. In TN a lot of hotels will use Vanaspathi if you ask for Pongal. Pongal will taste better only with Ghee, lot of hotels have shit tier Pongal since they use vanaspathi.

Unlike small Papistan, India is vast and diverse land of thousands of different cuisines spread across hundreds of different cultures. From delicious Rasam Sadam of Tamilnadu to Litti Chokha of Bihar, from Dalma of Odisha to Undhiyu of Gujarat, the diversity of food is just mind-blowing.

What Pakis think of Indian food is from their own narrow interpretation of India. When they compare their food they are only comparing to Delhi and Punjabi food.

BTW Delhi and Punjab wins against Paki food everytime. Paki food is basically North West Indian food + Meat. And since pakis are dirt poor they can't even afford decent quality ingredients. So it's basically cheaper versions of original.

to be honest, i am fairly certain we use a lot of vanaspati-dalda in our roadside cookings.
I eat a lot at roadside stalls when i go to India and i always see, its either they use a small knob of butter to fry eggs or toast or they deep-fry the aloo-bhaji/begunis etc in dalda.
I am fairly convinced that every deep-fried roadside dish in India is fried in dalda.

this is one big reason when muh muhatir of malaysia was given a kick on his butt, oil prices suddenly skyrocketed here, but even then bajaru prices had to be maintained, then government hit a big sixer on palm oil mafias by removing that 1/3rd mixing allowance thing, so these cooking oil guys simply stopped that 1/3rd mixing of palm oil with other cooking oils here and simply raised prices of palm oil = means, cooking oil market truly went through 'equalisation' for first time in years, ab tum mungfali ka tel lo ya palm ka, price was almost same...and consumers got to have better cooking oils without palm shit

but how come a country like India that uses diverse kinds of cooking oils still get to import tonnes of palm shit ? i mean one part i already explained, huge population and huge demand while not so huge production of oil seeds...
nah, the real reason lies with GREEN REBOLUSHAN meme...government of that time put this planned economy thing to become aatmanirbhar with grains, so most kisaan started moving towards that, and production of many things, be it fruits, lentils, pulses, AND SEED OILS all started getting affected 😒 - now after years of success of muh green rebolushan situation is still not better, that the Govt has to constantly roll out this that schemes with assured minimum selling price junjuna to these farmers so they are motivated to grow and sell things which is not just grains 😒

another factor of bad situation of cooking oil scenario, at least here in gujarat side, so mungfali ka tel is like our go-to cooking oil since generations, as gujarat grows helluwa crops of mungfali...BUT, that same mungfali can aslo be consumed for other things from simple snacks, to chikki and what not...MOST OF THE PREMIUM QUALITY MUNGFALIS GROWN HERE IS SIMPLY SOLD TO WESTERN MARKETS AS 'DAARU KA CHAKHANA' 🤷‍♂️ while ghar ke bachcho ko palm oil bahar se import kara ke khilana pad rha hai

yes, cooking with shitty oils gonna ruin one's health, but other massive factor is, simply lifestyle

even with protein rich diet, if a person's lifestyle is overall sedentary and they are going far above daily caloric needs, it'll simply be stored in their bodies as fat and cause all sort of problems, including diabetes

kya faaydaa us proteins ka jab metabolism hi motape wala ho aur exercise ya physical hard work naa kar ke bas charabi badhaye jaa rhi ho - don't we also have this among americans where obesity has become a norm lol

I think their diabetes is mostly type 1, lots of their athletes who have lean body are also diabetic.

Damn, I did not know Pakis were eating hydrogenated palm oil as ghee. I thought their ghee was from Buffalos looking at the color and thickness used in their dishes. Wish I knew about this long ago, I could have got Export license from GoI, setup a small factory near the border, and would have made the best ghee from my secret recipe mixing Dalda, Palm Oil, Castrol Oil, and yellow paint powder for color. My secret recipe would have given them the good taste of meaty dishes.
Yah i am shooketh too. I have lived in arab world and muslims -regardless of economic status - compromise way less than hindus on meat, milk, ghee,butter etc. So to find out they dont eat real ghee......i am now wondering if all their shammi kebab and chapli kebab are actual gost or is it like 30% tofu milawaat.
wouldnt be surprised either way - if there is one place u can hide tofu in easy, its in ground red meat that you grill and char on fire.

@johny_baba thankfully i am good enough cook to tell apart margarine from butter just from looking at how it melts on pan, so i know my local chaiwalla uses actual butter knobs to fry his eggs and toast stuff. It also helps that there is a mother diary right across the street from my chaiwalla and i saw lots of amul wrappers in his garbage bin.
Mind you, i have only noticed the toast + egg fry people using butter knobs in kolkata. anything deep fried is usually some type of non smelling cooking oil ( ie not mustard oil) - could be vanaspati, could be canola, could be corn oil, not sure. my gues is dalda, coz i do see the dalda caking over their cooler surfaces all the time at deep fry stalls.

One of the greatest things that happened to me coming to the west, is i became a very good cook. Not only did i work kitchens as cook for summer job/part time jobs, i learnt quick that if you live like westoids and eat out 2 time a day everyday, you might as well make samosa paper out of your paycheque and eat it. In India- at least in kolkata and tier B/C cities that my cousins went to get eduated in (like Bijapur or Cuttak)- we can still find decent meal for 50 rupees a plate so i guess pressure to learn to cook for indian young adult men is still not that severe as of yet.
But honestly, is a skill i think Indian parents should teach to their kids regardless of their sex. It takes time to get to be a good cook, but by the time i was 30, i was a very good cook. How do i know this without blowing smoke up my own ass ? its because by the time i was 30, i could make biriyani 10 times and it will be substandard only once, rest 9 times it will be as good (but less oily) than Arsalan's biriyani. for indian cooks, particularly non-veg, biriyani is your JEE exam.

PS: As added incentive to learn cooking- it also helps with the ladies. Unless the lady u r dating is a pucca gold-digger, trust me, a B+ grade meal YOU made for her as dinner-date goes a LOT further as 'le romantic/ awwww' to the fairer sex than dropping 200 bucks in a fancy restaurant.

And if you make A+ meal and set a candle-light dinner table yourself, you can sometimes LITERALLY see in the eyes of the ladies as they fall in love with you.

The overconfident Pakistanis may feel very happy with their military hardware and open a war front with India. This scenario has already been evaluated by India and has positioned equal number of military on the western front. Then again the Pakistani hope that Chinese will open another front to aid Pakistan may not materialise, as Chinese are no fools. They know India this year will become the third largest economy and Chinese economic survival after Trump Tariffs is linked other large economies trading with each other hence they will not pick up an unnecessary fight with India.

Hence Pakistanis will be left in the lurch without Chinese second front and a huge Indian Army beating the hell out of Pakistan.
