Dark during my UPSC preparation I had learnt that the Durand line between Afg-Pak was really a shoddy job with most of the today's tribal areas of Paki NWFP occupied by the Raj during the 2nd Anglo-Afghan war. The tribes that could be bried to join the brits were taken over by the Brits. The disputes still remains and many of these Pashtuns never really identified as Indians or Pakis (India was the border with Afghsn Amirs until Ranjit Singh pushed them back beyond Peshwar till Khyber pass).
Taliban even today claims much of north Balochistan & the so-called tribal autonomus region as theirs. The conventionak natural border between our subcontinent & Afghanistan actual follows their claim.

Should India not make common -cause with them to try & DP the Pakis?
Get a new claimed-border out & recognise it unilaterally like Nepal recently tried for Kalapani-Limpiyadhura region... just to fuck with the Pakis & try to tit-for-tat Kashmir?

Dealing with Taliban is like dealing with Admiral General Aladeen. If we cosy up too much a random tribal chief in Taliban will sense the head is scheming with Kaffir and will unleash the Jihad.

So again the cycle of shitshow in Afg. Better the current deal of providing humanitarian support and let the Talibans do the fighting since anyways they are not happy with durand line which is separating their chaddi bros.
