What is stopping us to do reverse engineering the retired jet engines we have...
Or giving it to IIT or IISC or some Indian research lab for studies...
whats stopping us from reverse engineering an rtx 4090 or a 5090,
1) india respects ip rights
2) it takes only 2 words to say "reverse engineering" it isnt that easy obviously, you can at best get the metallurgy and alloy info
but the know how, know why and how to manufacture it, and that too with top of the top accuracy and precision, etc etc, you wont get from reverse engineering
the alloy ratio is available on internet of rene and dms4, no need to even reverse engineer, but can you keep an ultralow error in making these super alloys??? then the single crystal blades?? everyone knew about single crystal blades, they are used in modern engines for better creep resistance
but do you know how to make it at mass level?
then comes tbc coating, you have the formula, do you know how to evenly apply/coat it
reverse engineering wont give you the manufacturing process and machines needed to make it
and even if you reverse engineer it, you havent developed the critical thinking for next engines,
your engine journey starts and ends
if reverse engineering is possible, then it is good for short term but for long term goals, r&d is best
the knowledge and experience from kaveri r&d >>> any other way
