Under this deal, we have bought,
- 5 command control post 55K6E
- only 5 91N6E Big Bird acquisition radars
- 10 92N6E engagement radars
- 10 96L6E2 Cheese Board low level search and acquisition radar.
- 20 5P85TE3 TEL ( only this launcher can fire the 380 km range 40N6E missile )
- 20 51P6E TEL.
So we have bought a total of 40 launchers only. That is each squadron has 1 control post, 1 Big Bird and two batteries each with 1 92N6E engagement radar , 1 96L6E2 and 4 TEL .
We have bought 380 km ranged 40N6E, 250 km range 48N6E2 and 48N6E3 , 120 km range 9M96E2. I know the exact no of missiles bought . Won't post here. The nos are very very limited.
Which leads me to believe that the S-400 was bought for BMD . Both the 40N6E and 48N6E2/E3 can intercept ballistic missiles and RV having a speed of upto 4800 m/s. That means all MRBM and IRBM in the 3500-4000 km class are covered.
These limited nos further reinforces our reliance on Project Kusha. There has been two test firings already of one or multiple missiles under this program. Hope to see one of the same enter service in the next 3 years.
