The big problem is the management of stray dogs by municipalities, instead of euthanizing the dogs they doing the sterilization which is expensive and ineffective as dogs reproduces 6 puppies in one go multiple times a year.Nah, mate. Those who feed stray dogs are a menace to the society. Especaiily coz very few Indian cities run an effective stray animal eradication programme - the more you feed them the more they multiply in numbers, the more they spread diseases etc. Do you have any idea how many accidents are occurring every year because of the presence of stray animals on roads?
Across the EU nations and NA, feeding stray animals is considered a criminal offense (loosely speaking, it might be an offense even in India - T&C apply). Those who want to feed a stray dog should just adopt it and feed it in their own backyard. Majority of the cities do not run an effective solid waste collection system and their sterilization/euthanization programmes are terribly terribly underfunded - these 'animal lovers' complicate it further.
Sterilized dogs will live upto 14 years and may get rabies.
