if tomorrow in the name of 'meritocracy', our nation of people, its customs and culture are abolished, then i would oppose this so called drive for merit.

And many times the drive for merit is just an excuse for rootless cosmopolitans who don't have any affinity for the country to just impose a foreign population on your homeland for monetary or political gain. Dont be surprised that people will oppose it.

I have lived in Banglore myself and let me say most auto wallas there are complete goons and have no intersest in their job , most of them are employed by local politicians who pay them for arriving on scene as needed for whatever illicit purposes , even there was a taxi stand in front of my resisdence auto wallas there used to just sit and hangout later did i came to know what they were doing there.
Things are shitty in bangalore when it comes to auto wallas in my brief stay there never was i able to get on a stationary auto, their exorbitant price used to make my head spin, and speaking hindi would used to provoke them like they are ready to get into a physical fight same issue was with kirana shops and even policemens.
people from different states live in Mumbai too but you will rarely have such problems there,in Bangalore you have to make sure before siting in auto if the auto wallah will go to your desired location or not and at what price,but there is nothing like that in Mumbai auto wallahs treat you as customer and they can't deny you to take you to any location all of them have meters and fares are cheap.
