Idiotic Musings from the West

Its bound to happen.
Elonwa's problem is, his tech isnt very scalable. Why ? Because his 'rocket' requires dozens of mini rockets to fire in tandem to create thrust.
This is the same problem Sakharov ran into with his original design, coz it creates vibration issues when u have multiple cryogenic engines firing in close proximity in a super-structure.
yes, elonwa compensates for the main issue with what Sakharov didnt have - compooter powwa thrust controlling to cancel most of the knocking, but it still creates significant challenges in material science to accomplish this over 'i make beeeeg giant inefficient nozzle'.

So with this in mind, you run into quality control issues - yes, you can maybe make a few a year and eventually get up to dozens of them that work in 25 years or so, but if you try to mass produce, your shit is higly likely to blow up and no mass production of elonwa's 'space car' = no space colonization, coz first vector required to colonize region x , be it via spaceship or cars or ships, is to have mass produced reliable transport vehicle to get to the region x.

Elon is a lot of 'thots and feelz, we will innovate that barrier when we come to it' about it, which is good when not in extreme as you run head-long to an insurmountable wall.

Errr.... the booster came back safely and made a landing. Falcon 9 has made over 300 launches and is now the cheapest rocket platform and greatly outperforms GSLV Mk 3 and is cheaper than that. Not only that, Starship is now the most powerful rocket in the history and greatly outperforms Saturn V. Elon is trying to make a 100% reusable rocket. That has never been done before.

So I would still pick Elon's philosophy any time any day of the week any day of the year.
