Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

Mail-SPL-468-X60-2x
rafale is not the option anymore, its too pricey, we need to get a couple more squadrons of su30 mki, thats the only jet we can get before 2030

and the topmost priority for iaf should be awacs acquisition along with super sukhoi upgrade for the whole fleet along with other vintage aircrafts upgrade

topmost priority for govt??? hand over a couple production lines to pvt sector for mwf so that we can get 40 units a year, that should be the bare minimum production, mwf should be the backbone of the fleet in the future and give it iteration type upgrades in its lru and subsystems

amca? mk1?? leave aside all of it, first get the f414 powered amca, just do basic trials and weapons test and just start producing, time is over, maybe if we start producing from 2031 onwards we will get only 40-50 units, better than 0

anti sead upgrades for our airdefence network with project kusha inducted as soon as possible

ghatak should also be brought asap, but thanks uncle putin for so quick testing of kde, we will remain indebted forever

and thanks to hal babus, we havent even got the basic trainers, leave aside the ultra hyped hlft 42

why the fkcu you need 20 hardpoints on a trainer??? aesa radar and what not, just keep it like a trainer, na ghar ka na ghaat ka ho jayega
na fighter ban paya dhang se na trainer ban paya

just give basic uttam GaAs with 7-8 hardpoints with kaveri and just roll it out man

yahan archer ng gayab ho gaya, bola tha april me first flight hoga

fir ye drdo ka hale bhi gayab ho gaya,

already existing design me inhe kyu wheel reinvent karna hai?? uav fighter jitna complex to nahi hota ki 10-15 saal design aur wind tunnel me nikal jaye

sorry guys, just a frustrated student

one thing i wanted to ask you all that 36 rafales were brought at a high cost, no problem, they were first purchase so all the training and mro costs for long term and weapons packages and all and major chunk was offset

but why was the 26 rafale m at such a high cost?? will they build mro facility in the middle of bay of bengal/ arabian sea?? will they give rafale f5 for navy?? or any offset again?? pehla wala to poora hua hi nahi

There is no invisible aircraft.
I think it is time that someone made that clear, so thanks. I think that too many things are marketed in black and white terms: 4G is visible from Mars but 5G cannot be seen when it is right next to the radar. People like things being oversimplified, don't they?

A 5 sq m RCS airframe will be visible on radar at a longer range than a1 sq m RCS aircraft. A 1 sq m RCS airframe will be visible on radar at a longer range than a 0.1 sq m RCS aircraft. When talking of visibility to radar, it is not a case of 5G = invisible, 4G= visible.

Dassault tries hard to sell at the highest price it can get? That is the aim of many sellers.

  • Weight: 79Kg (Ant : 22Kg. LVCS : Kg. LCS: 20Kg. RP 30Kg)
Very interesting info. I a seeing details of ELM 2052 fitted in Jag Darin-III for the first time. Small radar(320 elements) possibly because of real-estate or power constraints or both, but range of ~150km is v v good.
Has anyone seen any plans of mating a longer ranged missile on Jags apart from ASRAAM( which can be carried over wings as well)?

Why are we such chomus to accept such price gouging? The Rafale navy version had stiff competition from American super hornet. So we could have negotiated better? Not suggesting that we should have gone for the hornet but only using it as a bargaining chip.

At the time, I thought it'd have been ok to go with some Super Hornets for Navy while clearly giving the full MMRCA order to Rafales - but in the aftermath of recent incidents, I don't think India should ever even consider American options for things as sensitive as fighter jets ever again. In fact, if it's possible, I'd even suggest finding a way to get out of the jet engine deal for LCA's and making some alternative arrangement at breakneck speed.

Bhai already gan arsa radar are being developed which can detect a very low signature jets. And new technology with set of awacs can detect fifth gen fighters.
Even s400 is said to detect fifth gen fighters.

It’s a whole system . Not just one fighter jet you need satellite awacs and ground system network with all flying machines. They all work as a unit.
So yes visibility is one aspect but even with amca or su57 no we won’t have all system integrated. And with f35 we have limited access with chain around neck.

If f35 is a necessity for unkil to agree to the engine deal, then fine think of it as a cost of doing business

If not, No more imports Of anything.

I find it very curious the amount of dumb folk on the board who actually think that Dolund wants to FORCE us to buy F-35 in exchange for muh trade deel or in exchange for muh engines like you say.

Nobody will FORCE you to buy their crown jewel, they will force you to buy the obsolete shit from the 70s like the F-16 or F-15 with onerous terms and conditions, meanwhile they will make you do mujra to purchase the crown jewel, and with the purchase you get a dog leash around your neck.

That's is America "selling" us F-35

I agree to a certain extent. USA want india to buy its obsolete stuff.
But remember f35 is facing a lot of issues. Specially with its maintenance of surface and electronics.
f35 surface is very fragile a minor damage. Can cause lots of RCS loss. Most of the jets are grounded for maintenance. Just see the stats.
year 2023, the F-35 fleet achieved an average mission capable rate of approximately 51%
Now it’s much lesser than that.
So I don’t think it’s crowned jewel it’s a liability.

to kahan gaya 56 inch ka toughest negotiator? Aise hi uda de paisa?

63-70k cr me poora rafale m + 3 kalvari aane chahiye the
Aur jo paisa bachta usme vizag class ke destroyer ka 3 repeat, jisse production line idle na ho

@liberalredditor Stay away from the keyboard for sometime for heavens sake. You are all over the place and writing about all topics including F35, F22, AMCA etc. And all with one liners without much information. You are derailing the threads here.

Tejas MK2 will have F414 Engine unlike MK1 and MK1A which will have F404 Engine. As you can see in the below picture it is slightly bigger than it's previous versions.

It has canards at the front for additional lift. I hope they include conformal tanks to carry more internal fuel instead of relying too much on external fuel tanks which takes up precious pylons meant for carrying missiles.

HAL in yesterday Investor confirms few things. GE shared some 12 engines by this year. From next year it will 2 per months.

So yes, 12 MK1A will be handed over to IAF this year. Looks like production streamline is going with GE started the supply.

Now MOD should quickly close the F414 deal so we can have factory ready for production.

Also LUH is facing some design issue which they will rectify this year.

F35 isn't their crown jewel.

It's designed for export
